• The next exhibit at the Brandywine River Museum of Art opens this weekend. Joseph Stella: Visionary Nature opens June 17 and runs through Sept. 24. Stella is considered a pioneering modernist in American art and is recognized primarily for his dynamic Futurist-inspired paintings of New York, in particular Coney Island and the Brooklyn Bridge. Through these majestic works—which emerged beginning in 1913—Stella established his reputation as a bold and innovative artist who was able to convey the excitement of the city and modern life.
• The Delaware County Symphony will be performing a free concert for the opening night of the Rose Tree Park Summer Festival beginning at 7:30 p.m. on June 21. This performance is also a part of Make Music Philly Day and features some favorites from this past season: Entry March of the Boyars- Halvoresen; Peter and the Wolf- Prokofiev; Nimrod (from Enigma Variations)- Elgar; and Symphony No. 2 "Romantic"- Hanson.

• It’s Summer Learning Kick-Off 2023 at Rachel Kohl Library. Join the library staff on Tues. June 27 at 2 p.m. in the park behind the library. This event is for all ages of children and will feature children's music performer Silly Joe. Register for the Summer Learning Logs and learn about what will be happening at the library this summer.
• The Philadelphia Zoo is hosting a Summer Ale Festival from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample more than 100 craft beers from more than 65 local breweries, visit select animal exhibits, and park for free. • Gardeners can get their buzz on at Mt. Cuba Center with Gardening with Bees in Mind from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 24. Join instructor Leah Brooks as she discusses how people can extend a lifeline to struggling pollinators by planting certain shrubs and wildflowers and managing home habitats with bees in mind. A garden walk to view the plants is included. The cost is $29. Register here.

• On June 26, the Friends of Kennett Library will kick off its third annual community Shop & Dine Raffle, with 31 chances to win $100 (two $50 gift certificates) to local shops and restaurants. Visit the brand-new Kennett Library, now located at the corner of State and Willow Streets in Kennett Square, and purchase your raffle tickets. You’ll be supporting the Library’s Children’s Programs and Adult Literacy Programs. Sales will launch June 30 through the end of August in the lobby of our beautiful new building. One ticket for $10; four for $30; eight for $50; and 20 for $100. Every day in August, we will draw a raffle ticket to win $100 in local gift certificates.

• Local author Gene Pisasale has released his latest book “Heritage of the Brandywine Valley.” According to Pisasale, it delves into aspects of the more than 300-year history of this region and includes sections on the lives and achievements of people including Indian Hannah, William Penn, E.I. du Pont, William Darlington, Bayard Taylor, Samuel Barber, and many others, as well as detailed narratives of the Brandywine watershed, local landforms, geology and mining, industries, authors, artists, statesmen, and others.
