Media Barracks
• State police are now reporting that a harassment complaint was filed against a 34-year-old man from Philadelphia. The suspect, not identified in the report, is alleged to have made phone threats to his former girlfriend working at Citizens Bank in Concord Township. The calls came in through the bank's public phone line. Police were called into the case on Nov. 15.
Avondale Barracks
• A one-car crash on Route 1 sent two people to the hospital on Jan. 19. The accident happened in Pennsbury Township. Police said Christian J. Hill, 22, of Philadelphia, was driving under the influence of alcohol while southbound on Route 1 near Hickory Hill Road. According to the report, he was driving too fast for conditions, lost control, spun out, and struck a utility pole. Hill was taken to Paoli Hospital and charged with DUI, while one of his three passengers was taken to Chester County Hospital.
• Courtney E. Rhoades, 29, of Toughkenamon was cited for excessive speed following a one-car crash on N. Chatham Road in West Marlborough Township on Feb. 20, a police report said. The accident happened at 3:41 p.m. According to the report, Rhoades was driving south on N. Chatham, but driving too fast for icy conditions, lost control while trying to negotiate a left-hand curve, and struck a guide rail. Rhoades was extracted from the car and transported to Christiana Hospital.
• State police are investigating a case of identity theft in Pennsbury Township. A report said a 44-year-old man from Pennsbury reported that someone had hacked an online account and tried sending fake invoices.
• Police are reporting a hit-and-run accident in West Marlborough Township on Jan. 17. According to the report, the offending driver sideswiped another vehicle on Springdell Road and then left the scene. The accident happened at 5:16 p.m.
• A 78-year-old woman from Wayne was arrested for shoplifting at the East Marlborough Walmart on Jan. 24. The woman reportedly tried to steal approximately $90 worth of merchandise.
Kennett Square Police Department
While responding to a request for assistance by the Southern Chester County Police Department, borough police helped in the arrest of Desiderio Ramirez-Torres for an assault. However, the Kennett police found they had an active warrant out for Ramirez-Torres for failing to appear at a preliminary hearing involving a DUI arrest dating back to February of 2024. He was taken into custody for the assault and the warrant and was transported to Central Booking at Chester County Prison.
