New GM for Concord CC

Michael Strain will be the new general manager at Concord Country Club, the club said in a press release. He also knows the area, having lived in Kennett Square and played at Concord several times as a pro.

Michael Strain

Strain has extensive experience in club management, having served most recently as the General Manager/COO at Dunwoody Country Club in Atlanta, Ga. There he led the Club as it transitioned out of the COVID shutdown and facilitated the completion of over $4M in capital projects. Before that, he was the general manager/COO at Ivanhoe Club in Chicago and Detroit Golf Club.

He made the transition from Golf Professional to general manager in 2010 when he joined ClubCorp. Within their structure, he led the team that took over operation during the acquisition of Hartfeld National in Avondale. During this time, he lived in Kennett Square and fell in love with the area and all it offers, including Concord Country Club, which he played on multiple occasions.

According to the release, Strain has a unique blend of member-owned and for-profit club operation skills. His experience in both arenas creates a sound financial background, coupled with a deep understanding of providing premier-level member service. He is an active member of both the PGA of America and the Club Management Association of America, so he understands the core tenets of a successful country club operation.

He has a degree in marketing and a B.B.A from Mississippi State University where he graduated from the Professional Golf Management program. Strain is also an accomplished player, having won several PGA Sectional events throughout the years, including competing in the 2022 PGA Professional Championship.
