Media Barracks

Someone stole a $900 catalytic converter from a vehicle parked on Applied Bank Boulevard on May 8. State police from the Media barracks are investigating.

Police are investigating a retail theft from the Target store in Concord Township. Unknown suspects reportedly stole more than $1,700 worth of merchandise.

Avondale Barracks

The Pennsylvania State Police, Avondale Barracks, will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint between June 9 and June 11. The location was not given.

Police said they arrested a 43-year-old man from Kennett Square for assault following an argument with a 33-year-old woman that escalated into a physical altercation. The incident happened on June 4 in East Marlborough Township. The report didn’t mention the accused by name but did say the victim sustained three broken ribs.

George Bush III, 34, of Cochranville, was charged with excessive speed following a one-vehicle crash on E. Baltimore Pike in East Marlborough Township on June 3, according to police. The report said Bush was riding a 2002 Harley Davidson when a vehicle in front of him came to a sudden stop. Bush couldn’t stop in time, so he laid his bike down to avoid striking the other vehicle. Police said Bush and his passenger may have sustained minor injuries but refused transportation.

A police report said an 18-year-old man from Avondale was arrested for drug possession following a traffic stop on Bayard Road in Kennett Township. The accused was not named in the report. Police said they made the traffic stop after they saw the man’s vehicle run a stop sign. The incident happened on May 31 at 11:12 p.m.

A 26-year-old man from Drexel Hill was arrested for drug possession in Kennett Square on May 26. Police said they made a traffic stop on Maiden Lane at W. State Street for multiple traffic violations. When they approached the vehicle, the report said, troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana. The driver, not named in the report, showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests.
