“Assassins” hits the stage at City Theatre Company on April 14.

City Theater Company closes its 29th season in the Wings Black Box at The Delaware Contemporary with Assassins, the Tony-Award-winning musical featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by John Weidman, based on an original concept by Charles Gilbert Jr. This dark and slyly comic show shadows a group of successful and wannabe Presidential assassins throughout U.S. history, framing their experiences in a broader exploration of American ideals. Pennsbury Township will hold its roadside cleanup on Saturday, April 22. Vests, gloves, and bags can be picked up at the township building. The 23rd season of the Kennett Square Farmers Market opens this Friday, April 7, with extended hours from 3-6 p.m. just outside The Creamery.

West Chester University will celebrate the 400th anniversary of the publication of William Shakespeare’s First Folio with a Fortnight of Festivities, a multi-week festival with free, public events taking place on West Chester University’s campus from April 10 - 23, 2023. The festival will culminate in a production of “Twelfth Night” on the University’s Quad on April 23 at 3 p.m. Go here for more information and a schedule of events.

The Brandywine Battlefield Park Associates’ Revolutionary Speaker Series at Brandywine Battlefield Park resumes on Saturday, April 15, from noon to 2 p.m. The speaker will be Friederike Baer, author and associate professor of history at Penn State Abington. She will discuss her recent book Hessians: German Soldiers in the American Revolutionary War. After the presentation, guests can visit the Brandywine Battlefield Park’s exhibit gallery and enjoy some light refreshments. Tickets are $20 per person and available on Eventbrite Revolutionary Speaker Series.

Taiko drumming and dance return to West Chester University when Tamagawa Tuesday, April 11.

After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Taiko drumming and dance make a triumphant return to West Chester University when Tamagawa University takes the stage on Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. Tickets range in price from $12 - $25, and are now on sale to the public here or by phoning 610-436-2266. The event takes place in the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall on S. High. Street.

The Unionville Community Fair will hold its second annual “Spring Shindig” fundraiser on Friday, April 21 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Red Clay Room in Kennett Square. A fun, entertaining night is planned with dinner (beef sandwiches, stuffed shells, and salad), a cash bar, and raffles. Dance to the popular 2uesday Nite Band. Caricatures by Mac McCourt will add to the excitement. Tickets are $45 per person and can be purchased at www.ucfair.org

The Chester County Behavioral Health job fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 14 at the Chester County Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester. The event is free. Registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Register here.
