State police said they arrested a 22-year-old man from Rising Sun, Md. for DUI in Chadds Ford Township. Few details were released in the report, but it did say police made a traffic stop at 1:02 a.m. on Feb. 2 at Ring Road and Route 1. Police did not identify the driver.

Two men from Brooklyn were arrested on drug possession charges in Chadds Ford Township on Jan. 8. Police identified the two as Dheravan Coston, 44, and Keith Boone, 42. According to the police report, police made a traffic stop on Route 202 at Oakland Road at 1:18 a.m. for a vehicle code violation and wound up arresting the driver for DUI and the passenger on drug charges.

Nathan E. Pettus Jr., 20, of Philadelphia, was cited following a one-car crash on Route 202 in Chadds Ford on Jan. 10, police said. According to the report, Pettus was driving north on Route 202 when he accelerated into the left lane trying to pass a truck in front of Mr. Mulch, but lost control and struck a guard rail. Neither Pettus, nor his two passengers were injured, police said.

Avondale Barracks

An elderly Pennsbury couple was bilked out of $24,000 according to a state police report. Police said individuals claiming to work for Apple and Truist Bank tricked the elderly couple into depositing the $24,000 into a Bitcoin ATM.

A 33-year-old man from Kennett Square, not identified in the report, was arrested for DUI just after midnight on Feb. 4 following a traffic stop at Ridge Avenue and Center Street in Kennett Square. Police said they made the stop after observing the vehicle making an unsafe turn and with inoperable rear lights.

A two-car crash in Pennsbury wound up with both drivers being cited. The accident happened at the intersection of E. Street Road and Parkersville Road at 9:26 a.m. on Feb. 3. Police said Yvette D. Johnson, 59, of Chester, failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and tried to make a left turn from northbound Parkersville onto westbound Street Road. In the process, she turned into the path of a Jeep driven by Edales Mendez-Alveno, 28, of Kennett Square. Police said Johnson was cited for failing to stop at the stop sign, while Mendez-Alveno was charged for not being licensed to drive. Johnson was transported to Paoli Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Police said Janet Ward, 63, of New Castle was injured in a one-car crash in Pocopson Township on Jan. 25. According to the report, Ward was northbound on Lenape Road when her vehicle went off the road, struck a garbage can and then a fence. She was cited for failing to stay in her lane and was also transported to Chester County Hospital for treatment.

Kennett Square Police Department

Police said Daniel Rodriguez-Perez, 39, of Quarryville, was arrested and charged with DUI and related offenses, after the vehicle he was driving veered into the opposite lane of travel and struck the front, driver's side fender of a patrol car before continuing at a low rate of speed. The incident occurred on Jan. 29, at approximately 1:23 a.m., in the 500 Block of Center Street. Officers said they observed indicators suggesting intoxication and field sobriety tests showed impairment. Rodriguez-Perez submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a blood alcohol level of .239 percent.
