Wawaset Road will be closed daytime in Pocopson Township from Monday, Nov. 8, through Wednesday, Nov. 10,

• Wawaset Road is scheduled for daytime closures between Route 842 and Corrine Road in Pocopson Township from Monday, Nov. 8, through Wednesday, Nov. 10, for resurfacing operations. During the closure, Wawaset Road motorists will be directed to use Corrine Road, Red Lion Road, and Route 842. Local access will be maintained during the operation.
•Pole replacement will cause daytime lane closures on Route 926 between Byrd Road and Brook Lane in East Marlborough Township from Oct. 18 to Nov. 30.
•Aerial maintenance will cause daytime lane shifts on Route 926 between Byrd and Newark roads in West Marlborough Township through Dec. 30.
•Aerial maintenance will cause daytime lane shifts on Route 926 between Newark Road and West Baltimore Pike in West Marlborough Township through Dec. 30.
•Traffic signal installation will cause daytime lane closures on Route 926 between Cedarcroft Road and Unicorn Lane in East Marlborough Township through Nov 26.
•Roadwork on Route 1 through Chadds Ford will continue to be a problem for the remainder of the year. Lane closures remain in place in both directions on Route 1 between Hoffman Mill Road and Fairville Road in Chadds Ford and Pennsbury townships, under a project to repair the Route 1 bridge over the Brandywine Creek. The left lane in both directions will be closed into December to continue expansion dam replacement.
•Work crews will also continue to prepare Route 1 from Hoffman Mill Road and Route 202 for repaving. Cutting and patching will continue into December, but the actual repaving won’t begin until sometime in the spring.
•Traffic signal installation will cause lane closures on Route 82 between Cedarcroft Road and Unicorn Lane through Nov. 26.
•Storm damage has forced the closing of the Street Road Bridge over the White Clay Creek in West Marlborough Township. PennDOT is listing the closure as indefinite.
•Storm damage also closed Embreeville Road Bridge over the West Branch over the Brandywine Creek in Newlin Township. That closure, too, is listed as indefinite.
Chadds Ford Business Association members got a brief glimpse into what’s happening in Pennsbury Township during the group’s lunch meeting held in Pennsbury on Nov. 4.
Pennsbury Township Supervisors’ Chairman Aaron McIntyre addresses members of the Chadds Ford Business Association, bringing them up to date on what’s happening in the township.
Supervisors’ Chairman Aaron McIntyre, who earned re-election Tuesday when he ran uncontested, told the business crowd that one of the township’s priorities is to keep Route 1 clean and safe for residents and businesses alike. He added that the township is committed to maintaining the historic character of Pennsbury. To that end, he said, there are plans to restore the Hope House to be “period specific” as a structure from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
McIntyre added that the township hasn’t raised taxes in years and hopes to maintain that. To that end, he said, the township joined with five other municipalities to create the Kennett Area Fire and EMS Commission to keep prices down for fire and ambulance services. He called it a regional approach to distribute equipment more efficiently.
Fellow supervisor Wendell Fenton added that “every fire department [in the region] doesn’t need every piece of equipment.”
The next CFBA meeting is scheduled for noon on Dec. 2 at Antica Restaurant I Chadds Ford Township.
