Schools stay closed, Delaware now closed

The reaction to COVID-19 is getting stronger. Gov. Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania has extended his stay at home order, with schools and non-essential businesses remaining closed indefinitely. And Delaware Gov. John Carney has closed that state to out-of-towners.

Delaware.gov is reporting that Carney modified his Declaration of Emergency, ordering all out-of-state travelers into Delaware to immediately self-quarantine for 14 days to fight the spread of COVID-19.

“[A]nyone who enters Delaware from another state must immediately self-quarantine for 14 days. The 14-day period is measured from the time of entry into Delaware or for the duration of the individual’s presence in Delaware, whichever is shorter,” according to the site.

The order also applies to anyone who entered Delaware in the last 14 days, the site said, but doesn’t apply to people just passing through Delaware

The order has the force of law: “Any failure to comply with the provisions contained in a Declaration of a State of Emergency or any modification to a Declaration of the State of Emergency constitutes a criminal offense.”

In Pennsylvania, Gov. Wolf has extended his stay at home order through April 30, and added four more counties to the order, bringing the total to 26 counties.

The orders follow President Trump’s announcement Sunday, extending the federal social distancing guidelines through April 30.

Adopt-a-Pet March 30

The following animals are ready to be adopted from the Brandywine Valley SPCA in West Chester.

Deborah

Deborah

Deborah arrived in pretty rough shape as a stray. She is petite, sweet and gentle, so she likely had a home previously. This elder girl is looking for companionship and love in a home matched to her pace. Deborah is estimated at 12 years old and deserves to be cherished in her golden years. She can be adopted for a fee you name through Sunday, April 5.

Woola

Woola

Woola can seem a bit shy at first but melts into the sweetest cuddle-bug once he knows you’re on his side. He loves the company of his people friends, and his absolute most favorite thing to do is to snuggle up on the couch and relax together. You can adopt this 6-year-old love for a fee you name through Sunday, April 5.

For more information, go to www.bvspca.org or phone 484-302-0865.
