Emergency declaration extended

Chadds Ford Township supervisors Frank Murphy and Noel Barbone Wednesday afternoon extended the emergency declaration that Murphy authorized last week.

On March 12, Murphy authorized a Declaration of Disaster Emergency pursuant to the authority vested by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Services Code because of the novel Coronavirus pandemic. The declaration remained in effect for seven days and activated the township’s emergency management plan. The action followed Gov. Tom Wolf’s declaration of emergency on March 6. The March 18 action extends the townships’ declaration “until the appropriate officials discontinue the state declaration.”

The township office is closed to the public until further notice. There will be no building inspections and in-person tax payments have been canceled, as are all nonessential public meetings. If a meeting is necessary, the township will make arrangements to live stream them.

The township’s website has the full COVID-19 statement.
