The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an incident where an unknown black male broke into a locked vehicle by shattering the passenger side window. He then stole two purses located inside the vehicle, according to the report. Shortly after, an accomplice — identified as Tara Stanley, of New Jersey — used the victim’s credit cards at multiple locations to obtain approximately $3,150 worth of gift cards.

Parking, property damage problems addressed

Issues over parking and property damage for some Chadds Ford residents has abated. Residents on Longview and Summit Road have been inconvenienced for months by construction vehicles involved in building the Residences at Chadds Ford.

In addition to vehicles parked improperly, roadways being blocked and dirt spread along the streets, there was also a hydraulic fluid leak. According to township Supervisors’ Chairman Frank Murphy, the neighbors have been extremely patient.

Earlier this month, a stop work order was issued in order to get the situation rectified. A resume work order was issued on March 15.

Greg McMurry, of Cutler Associates, Inc. — the Malvern-based construction management firm on the project — said during the March 27 supervisors’ workshop that a full-time parking monitor has been hired to make sure all construction vehicles are parked where they should be, not on the residential streets and blocking traffic. Streets will also be cleaned twice per week, more if necessary, and Cutler will issue weekly reports, he said. He added that the bulk of the construction should be complete by July 1.

Cutler’s Executive Vice President Tony Ricciardi also said the company would pay for any damage to neighbors’ properties as a result of the project.

The Residence at Chadds Ford is a personal and memory care living facility on the site of the former C Harry B4 U Buy location on Route 202. It will have 84 apartments and can accommodate up to 104 residents.

Other business

In response to questions from Ridings residents Carolyn Daniels and Sheriden Black, township engineer Mike Schneider gave an update on the Shops at Ridge Road, the commercial development planned for Route 202 and Ridge Road in Concord Township, but adjoining Chadds Ford.

Pettinaro Construction is expected to begin PennDOT approved work along Route 202 south of Ridge at any time, Schneider said. Work is expected to include tree clearing, some road widening, as well as erosion and sediment control for driveways into the development.

He said the work could involve some southbound lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., but there’s been no proposed long-term lane shutdowns.

Schneider also said Pettinaro may need to get new permitting because of needed wetlands delineation. According to the state Department of Environmental Protection, the original permit expired in 2011.

Oakland Road, between five-points and the Brinton 1704 House will be paved as part of this year’s road program, Schneider said.

The spring road cleanup sponsored by the Chadds Ford Civic Association is scheduled for Saturday, April 13.
