Vivian “Mert” M. Brison, of Coatesville

Vivian “Mert” M. Brison, 50, of Coatesville, died Saturday, Mach 25, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

She was the proud mother of Christian Brison whom she adored and he was her everything and biggest hero.

Born in West Chester, on Nov. 15, 1966, she was the daughter of the late Joel M. Brown Sr. and the late Audrey Brison Fountain, she grew up with a number of siblings.

She was a graduate of Avon Grove High School and attended Vocational Tech, where she obtained a cosmetologist degree, and became a licensed cosmetologist.

She was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and worked in several capacities. She was employed by the West Chester University in housekeeping before she left due to disability.

Vivian was a member of the Galilee UAME Church in Avondale, and was also a member of MT. Tabor AME Zion Church also in Avondale.

She loved to cook for family and friends, and they enjoyed everything she made. She also enjoyed traveling, partying, the outdoors and being with her family and friends. Vivian had a beautiful smile and could tell a few jokes, she also gave a few family members nicknames, you know who you are.

She is survived by her companion, Scott Terry Milbourne; one son, Christian J. Brison of Coatesville; one brother, Joel M. Brown II and his wife Rashida of Lincoln University; three sisters, Elizabeth A. Fountain of Coatesville, Angela  Jones White and her husband Darien of Oxford, Erin N. Fountain of Coatesville, and  a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, especially aunt Cheryl Brown of West Chester; best friends,  Special Aunt Chestine Bowman of Coatesville, Sandra Upshear Nixon of West Grove, Rozalind Davis Parker of South Carolina, and MA Missy of Coatesville.

She was predeceased by one brother, Brian Brison, and her namesake, Vivian Brison.

You are invited to visit with her family and friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 1, at the Avon Grove Church of the Nazarene, 240 East State Road in West Grove. Her funeral service will follow at 1noon. Burial will be private.

Therese M. Pattinson of West Chester

Therese M. Pattinson (nee McGillian), 54, of West Chester, died Saturday, March 25, 2017.

Born in 1962 in Darby, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Cargan) McGillian.

Therese was a second-grade school teacher at St. Irenaeus, Archdiocese of Philadelphia for 10 years. She retired to become a full-time mother to her dear children.

She was an avid Eagles fan and season ticket holder. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed James Patterson novels. Therese loved to vacation with her family, especially to Disney World and the Caribbean. She enjoyed listening to rock and roll, especially the Grateful Dead.

Therese was the beloved wife of Richard D. Pattinson; loving mother of Meghan M. Pattinson and Richard G. Pattinson; dear sister of Maureen Galeone (John), Joe P. (Renee), John J. (Pamela), the late Michael (Betsy) and the late Margaret.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10:30-11:45 a.m. Friday, March 31, and to her funeral mass at noon at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, PA 19380. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

Dana James Tauber of West Chester

Dana James Tauber, 69, of West Chester, formerly of Dover, N.J. died Monday, March 27.

Born in Morristown, N.J. in 1947, he was the son of the late Alfred and Virginia (nee Riker) Tauber.

Dana was the beloved husband of Pilar (nee Cobo) Tauber; loving father of Erica Stott (Craig), Jessica Tauber, and Brian Calixto Tauber; dear brother of Douglas Tauber and Dennis Tauber (Maria Begoña); devoted grandfather of Tyler Craig Stott, Mikaela Raquel Stott, and Ryan William Stott; and cousin to William, John, and Thomas Riker. Dana is also survived by many in-laws including Joaquin and Victoria Cobo, Maria Teresa Gómez and Luis Gómez (deceased), Calixto and Maria Cobo, Angelica Martinez and René Martinez (deceased), Tom and Carmen Standridge, and many nieces and nephews.

Ethyleen M. McCool of West Grove

Ethyleen M. McCool, 95, of West Grove, died Sunda, March 26, at Twin Pines Health Care Center in West Grove. She was the wife of the late Frederick Sylvina who died in 1972.

Born in West Grove, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and the late Esther (Weller) McCue.

Ethyleen was a store manager for Sheldon’s Department Store in Kennett Square for many years.

She enjoyed knitting and was always helping others. She enjoyed shopping trips to Lancaster on weekends. She was a great mom and a great friend to all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Sylvina and Daniel Sylvina both of West Grove and three grandchildren, Anita, Aiden, and C.J. Hersh. She was predeceased by one granddaughter.

A memorial gathering in her memory will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Luther House Apartments, 126 Jenners Pond Rd, West Grove, PA 19390 in the parlor of building number 4. Interment will be held privately.

Police Log March 29: Counterfeiting, DUI, drug possession

• One unknown suspect, described only as a black male, used a counterfeit $100 bill to buy merchandise at the Walgreens on Route 1 in East Marlborough Township on March 20. This is the second such case at that location this month. Last week state police from the Avondale barracks reported three men used three counterfeit $100 bills to buy a $295 Visa gift card on March 9.

• Unknown suspects burglarized the Five Below store at the Concord Town Centre on March 14. A state police report from the Media barracks said troopers responded to an alarm at 5:44 p.m. on March 14 to find the store’s front window removed and that property had been stolen.

• State police said an 11-year-old girl stole a cell phone at the Skyzone in Concord Township on March 17. The phone was recovered the following day.

• Police from Troop K, Media barracks, said they arrested a woman for DUI following March 24 traffic stop in the 1600 block of Route 202, just north of Route 1. Police did not identify the driver, but said they made the 9:55 p.m. traffic stop because of vehicle code violations.

• An unnamed motorist was cited after striking another vehicle on Hatton Street at Byers Drive in Concord Township. The intersection has a four-way stop sign and the cited driver stopped, but then proceeded into the intersection before the first vehicle had cleared.

• Two drivers, both unidentified, were cited for speeding after a four-vehicle accident on Route 202 at Spring Hill Drive on March 25. The accident happened at 12:30 p.m. The police said all four vehicles were traveling north on 202 and two stopped for the traffic light. The third driver failed to stop in time and hit the vehicle immediately in front and the fourth driver hit the third vehicle from behind.

• Police said Megan Elizabeth Sturman, of Upper Chichester Township, was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop in Chadds Ford Township on March 18. The report said Sturman was stopped at Route 202 and Christy Drive at 2:19 a.m. for violations of the vehicle code.

• State police arrested an unidentified 27-year-old man from Newark for drug possession on March 17. The driver was stopped at a DUI checkpoint along Route 202 at Summit Street and found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

• State police said one motorist was cited following a three-vehicle accident in Pennsbury Township on March 20. No identities were given, but police said the driver of a 2011 BMW was making a right hand turn onto Route 1 from Ponds Edge Drive in front of two oncoming vehicles heading east on 1. The second vehicle swerved to the left to avoid hitting the BMW, but struck the third vehicle that was in the left lane. The BMW was not struck. The incident happened just after 6 p.m.

• A 43-year-old man, from Kennett Township, faces drug charges following a traffic stop in Pennsbury Township. The suspect’s name was not released.  According to state police, the motorist was stopped for an equipment violation, but the trooper could smell the aroma of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The incident happened at 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 2.

• State police from the Avondale barracks said a 49-year-old man from Coatesville was driving under the influence on Feb. 26 in East Marlborough Township. Police did not release the driver’s name but said they stopped the motorist because of multiple traffic violations. The incident happened at 1:36 a.m. in the 800 block of Merrimac Lane.
