Avid chocolate lovers being sought

The United Way of Southern Chester County is issuing a clarion call for chocoholics.

The Kennett Chocolate Lovers
The Kennett Chocolate Lovers Festival promises to appeal to fans of all ages.

Those with a taste for hundreds of delectable chocolate treats – an array that includes cakes, brownies, candies, cookies and cupcakes – should mark their calendars for Sunday, Feb. 21, this year’s date for the Kennett Chocolate Lovers Festival.

This popular fundraiser, which benefits programs served by the United Way of Southern Chester County, will be held at Kennett High School, 100 E. South St., Kennett Square. Bring family and friends to share the sweet offerings.

General admission, which starts at 1 p.m., costs $10 per person and includes six tastings (or purchase a $30 package for a family of four). General admission parking is $5.

Those who want to avoid the crowds can buy Connoisseur Tickets, which provide admission at noon for a private hour of wandering the chocolate-filled aisles: $25 per person or $45 for two people (includes beverages and parking).

Professional chefs or hobbyists are invited to donate their best chocolate desserts to support this event and spotlight their expertise for a chance to win ribbons and prizes. Contestant categories are professionals, amateurs, and students (ages 12 up).

There is no cost to enter. Entries must have a chocolate component and be shelf-stable, but need not be original.

To purchase advance tickets or get more information, such as contest rules, visit www.kennettchocolate.org.

United Way of Southern Chester County serves the residents of the Avon Grove, Kennett, Oxford, and Unionville-Chadds Ford school districts. Over 30 health and human service programs receive support from UWSCC.
