Louise C. Wallner, 76, of Kennett Square, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Chester County Hospital in West Chester. She was the wife of Charles E. Wallner, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage.

Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Joseph D. and the late Lenore (Carnahan) Cloud.

Louise and her husband worked together for many years renovating homes in Wilmington, and Sea Isle City, N.J. She was a member of the Architecture Review Board of Kennett Square Borough Historical Commission. A longtime Presbyterian, she was a member of Avondale Presbyterian Church. She was an avid reader, card shark, world traveler, amazing cook, die hard Auburn Tigers fan, accomplished musician and artist, energetic and passionately devoted to her husband and family. Known by everyone as a great storyteller, Louise loved to laugh and spend time with family and friends, many of whom she had since elementary school.

Survivors include in addition to her husband, one son, Edward Killheffer (Sharon) of Wilmington; two daughters, Margaret Oplinger (Tod) of Kennett Square and Christine Muench (David) of West Grove; a step daughter, Kathleen Wallner-Allen (Rich) of Virginia; a stepson, John Wallner (Cristina) of Brazil; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by one brother Jack Cloud.

You are invited to visit with Louise’s family and friends from 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home Inc. (610-444-4116) 250 W. State St. Kennett Square, PA 19348. Russell D. Muscarella, 63, of West Grove, died Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Chester County Hospital.

Born in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Russell and Helen (Ciuffetelli) Muscarella.

Russell was a customer service engineer at the DuPont Co. in Wilmington. He retired in December 2014, after 44-1/2 years of service.

He was a member of the Atglen Sportsmen’s Club and the Jennersville YMCA.

Russell enjoyed hunting, outdoor sports, swimming, golf, cooking, making bread, and he will always be remembered for his Christmas Eve contributions.

He is survived by his daughter, Justine Muscarella of West Grove; one sister, Susan Muscarella of Kennett Square; his uncle Tom Ciuffetelli and his wife Susan of West Chester.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 8:30 to 10:30 Saturday morning, Sept. 19, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square. A funeral mass will follow at 11 at St. Patrick’s Church, 212 Meredith Street in Kennett Square. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Route 82 in Kennett Square.

18th Annual Kennett Brewfest on tap

On tap for Historic Kennett Square: the 18th Annual Kennett Brewfest, a fundraiser designed to quench participants’ thirst for craft beers.

More than 100 breweries have signed up to promote their products at this outdoor, rain-or-shine event, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, from 2 to 6 p.m., on South Broad Street. Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, are limited and typically sell out; they include unlimited two-ounce tastings and live music.

General admission tickets are $50; $15 for designated drivers, which includes non-alcoholic drinks; and $75 for the Connoisseur Tasting, which includes a meal and runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. (as well as entrance to the regular event). All ticket-holders must be 21, and IDs will be checked at the door.
