A massive search that has involved hundreds of volunteers, 15 dog teams, and geo-tracking equipment continues for a 13-year-old eighth-grader from Newtown Square who went missing about 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4.

Cayman Naib’s grief-stricken parents have worked with law enforcement and civilians to organize searches that are ramping up in their intensity. They’ve also set up a Facebook page called “Find Cayman,” circulated his photos, and issued plaintive pleas for his return, so far to no avail.

The Shipley School teenager, who has brown hair and brown eyes, was last seen walking west on Church Road around 6:45 p.m. on a cold, rainy, and foggy Wednesday night. The teen, who is 5-foot-7 and weighs 110 pounds, was wearing a gray down winter jacket, black ski pants, and hiking boots.

In a Facebook posting, his father, Farid Naib, said his son left about 30 minutes after he received an email from school regarding overdue homework and probably did not do any pre-planning. His father said he didn’t know if his son had any money with him, but he did not take his cellphone, which wasn’t charged.

The family has expressed profuse thanks to a team of federal, state, and local law enforcement and members of the extended community who all assisted with searches on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7.

On Sunday, March 8, the Civil Air Patrol will be deployed, and another massive search team will depart in waves from Episcopal Academy’s lower school auditorium, which is being used as a staging area. The family said friends from thousands of miles away have flown in to assist them.

“We are stunned by the depth of assistance we are being provided. Law enforcement from our local police to the federal level are doing everything they can to help,” the parents wrote on Facebook. “All we need now is a happy ending, Cayman please come home. We love you.”

Newtown Township Police are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 610-356-0602 or e-mail Officer William Moor at moorw@newtowntownship.org.
