William R. Daugherty, 63, of West Grove, died Saturday, Dec. 20, at Christiana Hospital in Newark after a brief illness.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Robert and Elmira Dinger Daugherty. He lived most of his life in the West Grove area and graduated from Avon Grove High School. Bill served in the U S Army in Fairbanks Alaska as a heavy equipment operator.

Bill worked for many years as a dairy farmer. He had a CDL license and most recently was a truck driver for McCreary Grains in Avondale, PA.

He was a past member of the Avon Grove Jaycees and served as president of the local organization as well as vice president on the regional level. 
He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, drag racing and was a big NASCAR fan. He especially enjoyed being with his grandsons.

Bill is survived by one son, Jason R. Daugherty and his wife Rustin of Lincoln University; three sisters, Barbara Lipsey of West Grove, Sue Dunn of West Grove and Joan Sielke of Nottingham; two grandsons, Carter Jamison Daugherty and Bladen William Daugherty, three nieces and his special friend, Sue Godwin of West Grove.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ted Lipsey.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at the Foulk & Grieco Funeral Home, 200 Rose Hill Road in West Grove. His funeral service will follow at 7p.m. Burial will be private.
