Roadwork for the week of Dec. 14

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect residents in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of Dec. 14 through Dec. 21. PennDOT recommends that motorists allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones.

The roundabout project continues on Wawaset Road in Pocopson Township. Wawaset is scheduled to be closed until Dec. 31 between Lenape-Unionville and Corinne Roads; detours are posted. Detours are also posted on Rt. 52, which will also be closed through Dec. 31 between Pocopson and Locust Grove Roads in Pocopson Township for roundabout reconstruction.

Lane restrictions will continue through Dec. 29 on northbound Route 202 at Paoli Pike in West Goshen Township for construction on the overhead Fern Hill Road bridge, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. The bridge rehabilitation will require the closure of the right lane on northbound Route 202 between Paoli Pike and Route 322 through Dec. 31, and Fern Hill Road will be closed between Old Fern Hill Road and Five Points Road through Dec. 20. Detours are posted.

Drivers will continue to face nighttime lane closures next week on Route 202 in both directions between the Chesterbrook and Route 401 interchanges in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland Townships. Crews are scheduled to work from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The Route 202 South ramp to Route 401 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, as will the Route 401 ramp to Route 202 South; detours will be posted.

Intermittent lane closures on Route 202 in both directions from Route 29 to Gulph Road in Tredyffrin Township will occur from Monday, Dec. 15, through Friday, Dec. 19, for sweeping. The work is scheduled from 4 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Traffic signal installation in Kennett Square Borough will require lane closures on West Cypress Street at Meredith Street. Crews are scheduled to work from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday, Dec. 15, through Friday, Dec. 19.

Cable guide rail installation on Route 1 in both directions in Kennett and New Garden Townships between Newark Road and East Baltimore Pike will continue to necessitate shoulder closures. Crews are scheduled to work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 19.

Burnt Mill Road in Kennett Township is closed and detoured between Norway and Spring Mill Roads indefinitely while crews prepare for repairs to a bridge that collapsed on April 24.

Island installation will cause lane restrictions on Kaolin Road at Ewart and Limestone Roads in New Garden Township. The work will be done from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Utility installation will require Marshall Street between High Street and Montgomery Avenue in West Chester Borough to be closed through Friday, Dec. 19; a detour is posted. The work will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Southbound Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) will be reduced to one lane between Route 113 and Shoen Road in Uwchlan and West Whiteland Townships on Monday, Dec. 15, through Friday, Dec. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for widening, part of the $17.4 million project to expand the highway from two lanes to three lanes in each direction.

Weekday closures on Paoli Pike - between Warren Avenue and Devon Road - will continue in Willistown Township for utility installation.  The closures will be in effect Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Jan. 31. Detours will be in effect.

One lane will remain closed on Interstate 95 North at the Commodore Barry Bridge for construction through July 14, 2015.
