Mark A. Hollinger, 58, died in his Kennett Square home on Nov. 5 after a yearlong battle with glioblastoma multiforme. He was the devoted husband of Ellen Vosburg Hollinger with whom he shared 26 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster and raised in Woodstown, N.J., he was a son of John Hollinger III and the late Marilyn Herman Hollinger. Mark is also survived by two loving sons, Andrew of Conshochocken, and Jack of Kennett Square; two brothers, John and his wife Denice and Thomas and his wife April both of Woodstown, N.J.; and one sister, Ann Grogan and her husband John of Sarasota, Fla.

Mark graduated from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. He enjoyed 31 years with Mannington Mills, Inc. in Salem, N.J. He served as an officer of the company and vice president of Distributor Network and Strategic Accounts. He served on the board of directors of the National Association of Floor Covering Distributors as well as on the Board of Governors at the Kennett Square Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent where he served on the vestry and as the People’s Warden. He formed many close relationships with everyone he worked with; he was held in high regard.

Mark could often be found spending time with his loving family watching Eagles’ games, attending Dave Matthews concerts, or in the company of his many friends. He enjoyed playing lunchtime basketball at Mannington, long distance cycling, and his true love, golfing. In his honor, the KSG&CC recently named the annual Father - Son golf outing The Hollinger Cup. He was affectionately referred to as "Big Boy" as a testament not only to his stature but to his big heart. Never short of stories or jokes, his laugh was both boisterous and infectious. A kinder man you will never meet, as evidenced by his wealth of friends.

Ellen, Andrew, and Jack would like to express their gratitude to all their friends and family that held Mark up in prayer, brought countless meals, drove to treatment, or simply visited with Mark. Your friendship gave him hope along this journey and ultimately provided him with peace and comfort.

You are invited to Mark’s memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Willowdale Chapel, 675 Unionville Road Kennett Square, PA 19348. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
