Helen C. Krzywicki of Landenberg

Helen C. Krzywicki, 83, of Landenberg, died Sunday, August 3, at her residence. She was the wife of Francis B. Krzywicki, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Mildred, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Virginia Wisniewski Chessock.

Mrs. Krzywicki was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and being with her family and friends.

She was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church in West Grove, where she served as a eucharistic minister, and taught CCD classes to the Spanish speaking children.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, F. Michael Krzywicki of Newark, and Matthew S. Krzywicki of Midlothian, Va.; three daughters, Mary Wollaston and her husband Tom of Landenberg, Denise Sinigaglio of Landenberg, and Carol Wilson of Avondale; one brother, Leo Chessock of West Chester; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by one sister, Irene Lofting.

You are invited to visit with her family and friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 8, at The Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 300 State Road in West Grove. Her Funeral Mass will follow. Burial will be private.

Nancy S. DiFilippo of Kennett Square

Nancy S. DiFilippo, 88, of Kennett Square, died Sunday, August 3, at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester. She was the wife of Louis J. DiFilippo Jr, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Severino Falcone.

Nancy was a cafeteria aide at the Kennett High School for more than 15 years, retiring in 1980

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Kennett Square.

Nancy enjoyed cooking, the outdoors and being with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Janet L. DiFilippo of Kennett Square; two brothers, John Falcone of Eagle River, Alaska and Frank Falcone of West Chester.

She was predeceased by one son, James DiFilippo; three sisters, Mary Basilio, Jeanette DiNorscia and Frances Zonetti and one brother, James Falcone.

You are invited to visit with Nancy’s family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 7, and again from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 8 at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street in Kennett Square. Her funeral mass will follow at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick’s Church, 212 Meredith Street in Kennett Square. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Route 82 in Kennett Square.

Roadwork and lane closures for Aug. 4-11

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect residents in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of Aug. 4 through Aug. 11. PennDOT recommends that motorists allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones.

Lane closures will occur on Valley Brook Road in Concord and Aston Townships for milling and paving between Concord Road and U.S. 1 from Monday, Aug. 4, through Friday, Aug. 8. The work is scheduled from 7 p.m. through 5 a.m.

Rt. 52 in Kennett Township is scheduled for base repair on Tuesday, Aug. 5. The work, which will require lane restrictions at the Hillendale Road intersection, will be done from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Southbound U.S. 1 in Kennett, New Garden and Lower Oxford  Townships will require lane closures between Bayard Road and the Maryland state line for patching from Monday, Aug. 4, through Friday, Aug. 8. The work will be done from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The roundabout project continues on Wawaset Road in Pocopson Township, which will be closed until Sept. 2 between Lenape-Unionville and Corinne Roads; detours are posted. Lenape-Unionville Road, which will be closed through Sept. 29 between Rt. 52 and Locust Grove Road and between Pocopson and Locust Grove Roads for roundabout reconstruction, also has detours posted.

Burnt Mill Road in Kennett Township is closed and detoured between Norway and Spring Mill Roads indefinitely while crews work to repair damage to a bridge that collapsed on April 24.

Lane restrictions will be in effect on Newark Road in New Garden Township at Baltimore Pike for road construction. The work will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday, Aug. 4, through Friday, Aug. 8.

Work is continuing to repair overhead bridge damage on northbound U.S. 202 in West Goshen Township. The right lane will be closed at all times between the Paoli Pike and U.S. 322 interchanges. A completion date has not been announced.

One lane will remain closed on I-95 North at the Commodore Barry Bridge for construction through July 14, 2015.
