Chester County Emergency Numbers

Chester County Department of Aging Services

lists winter alert emergency numbers

WEST CHESTER _ The Chester County Department of Aging Services urges seniors to call for assistance if needed during winter storms.

Director Wanda Stonebraker said members of her staff are calling consumers living alone or might otherwise be at risk during winter storms to check on their welfare. If help is needed, seniors can call 610-344-6350 during the day for assistance.  After work hours they should call 1-800-564-7000.  Calls to the night number will be transferred to Department of Emergency Services and staff members will contact the on call care manager who will contact the senior and take necessary steps to secure safety.

The Department of Aging Services urges seniors to keep plenty of food, water and medication on hand in case of a storm; have a battery-powered radio and flashlight available; keep hydrated; stay indoors when possible; dress in layers if venturing into the cold; avoid work, such as shoveling snow, that stresses the heart; have a cell phone while outside and keep homes well-lit.

Chester County is the first county in Pennsylvania to initiate a strategic planning process and has a Aaa rating on its bonds from Moody’s Investors Service as well as AAA ratings from Standard & Poor’s and Fitch Ratings.  Established by William Penn as one of Pennsylvania’s three original counties, Chester County has been named by Forbes.com as one of America’s best places to raise a family and is ranked the healthiest county in Pennsylvania by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
