SKIP THE MALL & FIND THE FUN WITH "STEAMIN' THANKSGIVING" AT AUBURN HEIGHTS Saturday, November 24, 12:30 to 4:30
Yorklyn, Delaware -- November 2012 --The Marshall Steam Museum finishes its "steamin'" season with a bang at Steamin' Thanksgiving on Saturday, November 24, from 12:30 to 4:30 pm. Coinciding with Small Business Saturday, Steamin' Thanksgiving offers a local family-centered alternative to Black Friday. Joining us will be a small business, Eppy's Bar-B-Que, on-site to serve up hot fare for all! Enjoy rides in an authentic Stanley Steamer or aboard the Auburn Valley Railroad's two coal-fired 1/8-size steam trains. Attend the Firing Up Demonstration to learn how a Stanley is set in motion. Enjoy free steam-popped popcorn from the museum's vintage Cretor's popper or warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. And take advantage of the last opportunity to see the Smithsonian exhibit The Way We Worked at the Marshall Steam Museum (made possible by the Delaware Humanities Forum). Entry to the museum, which houses the world's largest operating collection of Stanley Steamers, a display of 1930s Lionel electric trains and an interactive exhibit, What's under the Hood: How a Stanley Steam Car Works, is included with all admission levels. The site also features a grand 1897 mansion that was home to three generations of the Marshall family, and tours of the home will be available.

About the Marshall Steam Museum
Operated by the Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve (FAHP) in partnership with Delaware State Parks, the Marshall Steam Museum features the world's largest operating collection of Stanley steam cars, plus two 1930s Packards, a 1909 White steamer, and a 1916 Rauch and Lang electric car. The mission of FAHP is to educate the public firsthand about an American way of life that flourished at the dawn of the automotive age and to preserve historic steam automobile technology by teaching the practical skills of operating and maintaining steam cars.
