Escaped prisoner Danelo Cavalcante has been considered dangerous before, now he’s “armed and dangerous,” according to Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens. Bivens confirmed during a 9:30 a.m. press conference Tuesday that Cavalcante stole a rifle from a garage in South Coventry Township, but the homeowner was present, drew a pistol, and fired at Cavalcante. Convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante eluded a police manhunt by somehow slipping through the search perimeter around Longwood Gardens, and then making his way to Phoenixville Saturday night in a stolen truck. While N. Creek Road remains the eastern edge of the search perimeter in the hunt for Danelo Cavalcante, Chadds Ford Elementary School has been eliminated from the schools within the search area. Greenwood Elementary School in the Kennett Consolidated School District was also eliminated as an area to be searched. The total search area is eight to 10 square miles, according to police.
