Enjoy live music in the Brandywine River Museum of Art’s courtyard with artist Melanie Brulée. What most might call Americana, folk-rock or country music, Toronto-based Melanie Brulée colours her own, bringing a vintage respect to a modern sound by intertwining surf-style guitar tones and catchy melody hooks—all with the vibe of a speakeasy cabaret. Her music has been on regular rotation on CBC and Sirius XM and her third album Fires, Floods & Things We Leave Behind—exploring themes of family, loss and addiction—was released in October 2018. The Museum’s courtyard opens at 6 p.m.; performance begins at 7 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

CHESS is a Tony Award nominated musical with music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of the pop group ABBA, lyrics by Tim Rice, and a book by Richard Nelson based on an idea by Rice. The story involves a politically driven, Cold War era chess tournament between two grandmasters from America and the USSR and their fight over a woman who manages one and falls in love with the other. Just as relevant today as it was thirty years ago, CHESS blends the raw emotion of modern opera with the edginess of synth-pop and rock n’ roll.
Featuring a cast and production team from the Greater Philadelphia Area, this fully staged production will be accompanied by The Chesco Pops under the baton of Maestro Joseph Gehring. Bravo Theatre Company’s Artistic Director, Daniel K. Williams will stage direct. Joining him as music director is Diane Gray with additional music direction by Susan Guyer and choreography by Emily Fishman.
