Chadds Ford GOP endorses 7 candidates

The Chadds Ford Republican Party has announced a full slate of candidates for this year’s May 19 primary election.

According to Mary Kot, chairman of the Chadds Ford GOP, Samantha Reiner, who was recently appointed as supervisor to replace Keith Klaver who resigned in January, will run in her own name for the remainder of Klaver’s term, which goes through the end of 2017.

Reiner is a former chairman of the Chadds Ford Open Space Committee and is the township manager of Edgmont Township.

Joining Reiner in a bid for supervisor is Noelle Barbone, who will run for the position currently held by George Thorpe.

Thorpe said earlier this year that he hadn’t decided whether or not to seek another term. He was unavailable for comment for this story.

Barbone is 20-year Chadds Ford resident and is a working real estate professional for 45 years. She is the recording secretary of the Chadds Ford HARB and a member of the township Strategic Advisory Committee.

Chadds Ford Township Democrats currently have no candidate for supervisor, according to their chairman, Jesse Sheppard.

The GOP has also endorsed three candidates for Unionville-Chadds Ford School Board.

Chadds Ford resident Carolyn Daniels is seeking re-election. She took office after winning a 2013 election to replace Frank Murphy who resigned.

Pennsbury Township residents John Murphy and Lorraine Ramunno join Daniels on the ticket to represent Region C, Chadds Ford and Pennsbury townships, on the U-CF board.

Murphy is a marketing manager with Corporation Service Co. and a registered professional engineer. He’s an active volunteer and coach with the Unionville Recreation Association, the Hillendale PTO, The Kennett Area YMCA and a prior board member of the Ministry of Caring Guild.

Ramunno is a criminal law attorney in solo practice in Media. Her law practice also includes juvenile defense, family law, dependency cases and personal injury.

The three will run against longtime Pennsbury Republican Beverly Brookes and incumbent Democrats Gregg Lindner and Kathy Do.

In November, Brookes said she declined a request from the Chadds Ford Republicans to be on a Republican-endorsed ticket.

Other candidates endorsed by the Republican Party this year are Vince Del Rossi for auditor and Phil Wenrich for constable.
