Hugo Robert Maucher of Kennett Square

 Hugo Robert Maucher, 75, of Kennett Square, died Friday, Sept. 14, at the Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester. He was the husband of Mary

Underwood Maucher, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Hugo & Mary Maucher.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Kennett Square.

Mr. Maucher was an accomplished restaurateur, and was the owner of Hugo’s Inn in Kennett Square.

He loved spending time at the beach, traveling and being with his family. He served his country in the US Army. He had a passion for cooking and loved experimenting with a variety of recipes and foods. He was very proud of his German and Italian heritage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Hugo Michael Maucher and his wife Aileen of Wilmington; three daughters, Mary Beth Toewe and her husband William of Hatfield, Ellen Aleskowitz of Virginia Beach, Va. and Nancy L. Jacketti and her husband Gary of Beacon, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Chiara, Katie, Josef, Anni, Mary, Ema, Kai and Vivian.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 6 to 9 on Tuesday evening, Sept. 18, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street in Kennett Square (Phone: 610-444-4116). His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 Wednesday morning, Sept. 19, at St. Patrick’s Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square,. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square.
