Not much new in Concord

Common Pleas Court Judge Dominic F. Pileggi administers the oath of office to his cousin Dominic A. Pileggi as township council member. Holding the Bible for Pileggi is his friend, Judy Melfi.

Except for one new council member, there’s nothing new for the Concord Township Council in 2026.

Concord’s reorganization meeting started with the swearing in of Dominic Pileggi, John Gillespie, and Dana Rankin, each of whom won reelection in November, and the swearing in of James Hunt, who replaces Colleen Morrone on council, things went as they had been. Pileggi was named council president, and Gillespie and John Crosson were renamed co-vice presidents.

Amanda Serock was renamed township manager, Hugh Donaghue remains as township solicitor, and Nate Cline of Pennoni Engineers stays on as township engineer. Tom Comitta also stays as township land plan Libby Salvucci, and Frank Lamanna were reappointed to the Zoning Hearing Board.

Following the reorganization, Concord held a very brief regular January meeting during which Cline told council and the audience that the township will be gathering information regarding the 2026 Road Program.

“We’re taking complaints or concerns regarding the road network as we work to develop that program,” he said.

Donaghue reminded people that the zoning hearing will resume on Jan. 21 for Concord Acquisition, aka The Shops at Ridge Road. The applicant is appealing the decision by Zoning Officer Manos Kavadias that three buildings, pads 4,5, ad 6, could not be considered as one and that a gas station could not be considered an acceptable accessory use at a supermarket.

Status quo for Chadds Ford

Supervisor Kathleen Goodier takes the oath of office from Judge Wendy Roberts during the Chadds Ford Township reorganization meeting. Holding the Bible for Goodier is her son, Owen.

It’s going to be pretty much status quo for Chadds Ford Township government in 2026. There are no changes for the Board of Supervisors or for appointed personnel.

Supervisors held the annual state-mandated reorganization meeting following the swearing in of Supervisor Kathleen Goodier, auditor Swati Patel, and tax collector Valerie Hoxter.

Goodier, who has been a supervisor since being named to replace the late Frank Murphy in 2024, needed to take the oath of office because she ran for reelection in November. Patel and Hoxter were also reelected in the fall.

Following the swearing in, Timotha Trigg was renamed the supervisors’ chairman, and Goodier was renamed vice chair. Samantha Reiner remains as supervisor.

Beyond that, Michael Maddren was reappointed township solicitor, with Ernie Spiros Angelos named conflict solicitor. Don Petrosa was reappointed as Zoning Hearing Board solicitor, with J. Adam Matlawski named as ZHB conflict solicitor. Adam Bellwoar was named special solicitor.

Matlawski and Bellwoar were active in the December Zoning Hearing concerning Calvary Chapel.

Other appointments include Mike Schneider as township engineer, Tom Comitta as land planner, and Rob King as roadmaster.

Lacey Faber was reappointed as township manager, and Maureen Czachorowski was named assistant to the manager. Craig Huffman was reappointed to the Planning Commission, and Concordville Fire and Protective Association was again named the township’s fire and ambulance service provider.

Supervisors also reaffirmed no tax increase for 2026. The millage rate remains what it was for 2025, with a rate of 0.6247 in the hydrant district and 0.5577 outside the district.
