• For those who have ever dreamed of cultivating their own indoor jungle, Longwood Garden at the Creamery might help with Plantology on Tap: Keeping Your Houseplants Happy. Learn the basics of indoor gardening, how to make your home a better environment for houseplants, and how to help your houseplants thrive with proper lighting, watering, and repotting. The event will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, at The Creamery, 401 Birch Street in Kennett Square. • It's going to be Palette to Palate at The Delaware Contemporary with food and comic improvisations on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Palette to Palate is a fundraiser for The Delaware Contemporary & CTC (City Theater Co.) Attendees can enjoy a four-course meal by Chef Michael DiBianca of Ciro Food & Drink while chuckling as CTC's own Fearless Improv team tickles the mind with games and interactive fun between courses. • Many people don’t like going out in the cold weather, but non-migrating animals live in the cold of winter. How do they survive? Some frogs can freeze for the winter, and then reanimate. Butterflies can survive under bark. Mt. Cuba Center is offering an online class, How Animals Overwinter, from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22. Learn the strategies and adaptations that native animals use to survive the winter. The cost of the program is $25. Register here.
• What does one do with empty milk jugs? Rachel Kohl Library has an idea for those with winter blues and yen to start gardening. It’s a Winter Milk Jug Sowing Workshop. Grab your jug (a half to full gallon jug) and head to the library on Jan. 19, to learn how to sow seeds in a milk jug to take home. Soil, tools, and seeds will be provided. The event runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. It’s free, but registration is required. To register, email [email protected].
• The Brandywine Museum of Art has scheduled six new exhibits in 2025, and a couple include some familiar names such as Wyeth and Kuerner. In February, the museum will have Robert Frank and Todd Webb: Across America, 1955, and a week later with Tell Me a Story Where the Bad Girl Wins: The Life and Art of Barbara Shermund. March will bring Andrew Wyeth: Human Nature; in May it’s The Earthen Door, followed in June with a second Wyeth exhibit, Andrew Wyeth at Kuerner Farm: The Eye of the Earth.
