Media Barracks
Police said they arrested a 37-year-old woman from Wilmington — not identified in the report — for stealing shoes from DSW Shoes in Concord Township. According to police, the suspect fled, but a later radio call about another theft at a different location led police to arrest the suspect who admitted to the Concord theft.
Avondale Barracks
• State police from the Avondale barracks are investigating the theft of Christmas decorations from a development in Pocopson Township. The report said the value of the decorations is estimated at $200. The Red Bridge Farm HOA reported the theft on Dec. 15.
• Walmart in East Marlborough got hit according to the state police, and troopers are investigating. According to the report, store personnel called police when a man tried to leave the store without paying for approximately $500 worth of merchandise. The suspect, described only as a white man, was stopped by Walmart Loss Prevention members, but the man fled and escaped in a blue sedan. Police are investigating.
• The same Walmart was hit again on Christmas Eve. Police said they arrested a 35-year-old Garnet Valley woman (not identified) for shoplifting. She was trying to get away with 80 items with a total value of $1,200.
• Driving under the influence led a Wilmington man to be ticketed and treated for injuries after a one-car crash in Pocopson Township on Dec. 21. Police identified the driver as Just J. Quirindongo. The accident happened at 3:18 a.m. on N. Wawaset Road near Carolannes Way. The report said Quirindongo was traveling south on N Wawaset but under-compensated while negotiating a left curve. The vehicle then veered off the road and struck a utility pole. He sustained injuries to his right thumb, police said.
• Police said Ryan Cordingley, 30, of West Chester, was charged with DUI after he fell asleep at the wheel of the Honda Civic he was driving. The incident happened at 9:48 a.m. on Dec. 27 on Lenape Road in Pocopson Township. The car swerved onto the opposing shoulder and rolled over, according to the report. Police also said he sustained some minor injuries but did not mention whether he had been transported to a medical facility.
• Steven McMonigle, 33, of Elkton, Md., was cited for careless driving, a police report said. The incident happened on Dec. 10 at 6:27 p.m. on Route 826, near Wickersham Lane, in East Marlborough Township. According to the report, the 2019 Ford Transit McMonigle was driving ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The vehicle was disabled, and the driver reported a minor head injury, the report said.
• Police arrested a 36-year-old woman from Wilmington for DUI in Pocopson Township on Dec. 21 at 3:18 a.m. The arrest came after a one-car accident on N. Wawaset Road. Police did not identify the driver in the report.
