• Kennett Square police are asking for help in identifying a shovel thief. On Feb. 17, at 9:17 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Meredith Street for a theft report involving a stolen shovel. According to the report, the person reporting the theft said that the perpetrators were operating a silver Nissan Pathfinder and left the scene northbound on Meredith Street. The security video shows a male subject running from the driveway, carrying a shovel. The male subject is possibly in his 20s, was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a black hat. The vehicle appears to be a mid to late-2000s Nissan Pathfinder. • Feb. 28, District Court 15-3-04 issued an arrest warrant for Desiderio Ramirez-Tomas for failure to appear at a preliminary hearing regarding an arrest for a DUI incident that happened in December. Ramirez-Tomas, 32, of Avondale, was arrested for DUI after he was stopped for failing to maintain his lane of travel and several other traffic violations. Police said Ramirez-Tomas showed signs of intoxication, and that field sobriety tests showed impairment. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a blood alcohol level of 0.122 percent.

• Police arrested a 72-year-old man from West Chester for stealing from the East Marlborough Township Walmart on Feb. 28. The report gave no details about what was taken.

• Police are investigating a theft at the Hilton Garden Inn in East Marlborough Township. An unknown suspect or suspects stole a $200 safe containing $500 in cash, the report said.

• A 61-year-old man from West Chester was arrested for DUI following a one-car crash on Lenape Road in Pocopson Township on Feb. 20. The accident happened at 5:24 p.m. No other details were released.
