Avondale Barracks

State police from the Avondale barracks reported they're investigating two cases of suspected child abuse in East Marlborough Township. A police incident report dated Oct. 3 said there was a report of “dissemination intimate image.” Another incident was reported on Sept. 1.

A 59-year-old woman from Folcroft was arrested for drug possession following a traffic stop in Kennett Township on Oct. 22. Police said they made the stop on Route 1 at Exelon Way at 10:19 p.m. After making contact with the driver, police said they smelled alcohol coming from the driver. Field sobriety tests were given, and they indicated impairment. Further investigation revealed drugs and drug paraphernalia located in plain view in the vehicle.

A one-car accident on S. Creek Road in Pennsbury Township led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man from Lincoln University. Police said the accident happened shortly before midnight on Oct. 21. The report said the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee flipped over onto its right side after hitting a guide rail. The driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Police arrested a 42-year-old man from East Fallowfield for DUI after a one-car crash in Pocopson Township on Sept. 16. The accident happened shortly after 4 p.m. on S. Wawaset Road. The report said the vehicle, a Jeep Patriot, was stuck in some bushes when they arrived.

William B. Sweitzer, 18, of West Chester, was cited following an Oct. 16 accident in East Marlborough Township. The accident happened at 7:23 a.m. on Street Road at its intersection with Route 82. According to the report, Sweitzer was driving east on Street Road when he hit a vehicle he was trying to pass. The other driver was injured and transported to Chester County Hospital.

Kennett Square Police Department

Borough police said they arrested Angel Perez-Simon on DUI charges following an incident on Oct. 10. According to the report, officers were dispatched to a residence on S. Broad Street because the defendant came to the home intoxicated and the complainant thought Perez-Simon would attack people. Perez-Simon was in his car when police left the home but, the report continued, the defendant accelerated toward police “aggressively.” After making contact with Perez-Simon, police said they observed signs of intoxication. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol level to be 0.187 percent.
