Police said Taso Solanakis, 57, of West Chester, was arrested for retail theft after he stole two televisions from Costco in Concord Township. The arrest came on Feb. 10 at 2:45 p.m. The sets were valued at $950 each but, according to the report, Solanakis replaced the barcodes to indicate they were valued at $370 each.

State police are investigating a reported scam that victimized a resident at Maris Grove last month. The report said an 85-year-old man was scammed out of $10,000.

Police are investigating the theft of two iPhone 14 Pro cell phones from the AT&T store on Route 202 in Chadds Ford Township. One of the phones is a Pro Lite 128 GB phone, and the other is a Pro Max 256 GB. The total value is approximately $2,100. The theft took place on Jan. 9.

Avondale Barracks

State police from the Avondale barracks said 17-year-old Seth Wagner, from Chadds Ford Township, was killed in a traffic accident at E. Street and School House roads in East Marlborough Township on Thursday, Feb. 9. According to the report, a 28-year-old man from Coatesville was driving north on School House at 3:02 p.m. when he struck the other car that was heading east on Route 926 (Street Road). The second car rolled over and the youth, not buckled, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Handwritten notes on the press release said the second car was being driven by a 64-year-old woman from Chadds Ford and that police suspect she might have been DUI. Police did not identify any of the individuals by name.

Sean McNeil, 32, of Coatesville, was arrested on drug possession charges and for DUI following a traffic stop speeding in Kennett Township on Feb. 10, police said. Police made the stop at 1:16 a.m. at the intersection of Kennett Pike and Deer Pond Lane.

Kennett Square Police Department

Arielis Vargas, 30, of Kennett Square, was charged with corruption of minors, disorderly conduct, terroristic threats, and simple assault following an incident in which she brought a juvenile child to allegedly fight another juvenile, according to a police report The incident occurred on Feb. 5, at the parking garage, in the 100 Block of E. Linden Street. The report said officers were shown multiple videos of the altercation, where Vargas is observed in the background shouting and encouraging the juveniles to fight, as well as taking a video of the incident.
