Marilyn Yvonne Ziminsky of Chadds Ford

Marilyn Yvonne Ziminsky, 86, of Chadds Ford, died Friday, Feb. 4, at her home. She was the wife of the late George Lawrence Ziminsky. They were happily married for 43 years.

She is survived by her children; Ted E. Ziminsky (Cindy), Jay C. Ziminsky (Meg), George M. Ziminsky, and Amy B. Basile (Frank); her grandchildren, Eric V. Ziminsky, Stephen A. Basile, Lydia M. Ziminsky, Ethan S. Ziminsky, Sean C. Milko and Emily C. Milko. She is also survived by her brother, Gary B. Brumbach.

Born March 7, 1935, in White Haven, she was the daughter of the late Marlyn Laverne Brumbach and the late Helen Edith Nanstiel Brumbach. Marilyn grew up in White Haven and graduated from White Haven High School, where she was a cheerleader in 1953. She then graduated from West Chester State Teachers College, majoring in education, in 1957 and married George later that year.

They stayed in Pennsylvania with residences in Orwigsburg and West Chester before settling in their long-time home in Chadds Ford. Marilyn worked as a teacher in the Blue Mountain School District in Orwigsburg and Brandywine School District in Wilmington before focusing on raising her family. She later worked as a teacher and a librarian in both the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District and West Chester School District. She was a long-time member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed her cats and dogs, gardening, reading, travel, crossword puzzles, and Tastykakes. Her love of her family will be missed by us all.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, Feb. 10, from 2-2:45 p.m. at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 610-696-1181, www.DellaFh.com, followed by her Funeral Service at 3. At the family’s request, in light of the ongoing pandemic, all who attend are asked to wear a mask.

Graveside Services will be Friday, Feb, 11, 1 p.m., at the Laurel Cemetery 698 Trimmer Ave. #600, White Haven PA 18661.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org), Brandywine Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380 or Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 4 Westtown Road, Thornton, PA 19373. Mom, you were gracious, generous, humorous, and caring - we will always miss you.
