PennDOT has announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect drivers in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of Oct. 9 to Oct. 15. Motorists are urged to allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones. Work schedules are subject to change.
• Aerial maintenance will cause daytime lane shifts on Route 926 between Byrd and Newark roads in West Marlborough Township through Dec. 30.
• Aerial maintenance will cause daytime lane shifts on Route 926 between Newark Road and West Baltimore Pike in West Marlborough Township through Dec. 30.
• Traffic signal installation will cause daytime lane closures on Route 926 between Cedarcroft Road and Unicorn Lane in East Marlborough Township through Nov 26.
• Utility construction will cause weekday lane closures on Gay Street between Church and New Streets in West Chester through Oct. 31.
• Flagging for gas main installation will slow daytime traffic on Brintons Bridge Road between General Weedon Drive and Winturford Drive in Birmingham Township from Sept. 27 through Oct. 22.
• Roadwork on Route 1 through Chadds Ford will continue to be a problem for the remainder of the year. Lane closures remain in place in both directions on Route 1 between Hoffman Mill Road and Fairville Road in Chadds Ford and Pennsbury townships, under a project to repair the Route 1 bridge over the Brandywine Creek. The right lane closures will remain in place 24/7 through mid-October. Once the right lanes reopen to traffic in mid-October, the left lane in both directions will close through late December to continue expansion dam replacement.
• Work crews will also continue to prepare Route 1 Hoffman Mill Road and Route 202 for repaving. Cutting and patching will continue for several months but the actual repaving won’t begin until sometime in the spring.
• Traffic signal installation will cause lane closures on Route 82 between Cedarcroft Road and Unicorn Lane through Nov. 26.
• Storm damage has forced the closing of the Street Road Bridge over the White Clay Creek in West Marlborough Township. PennDOT is listing the closure as indefinite.
• Storm damage also closed Embreeville Road Bridge over the West Branch over the Brandywine Creek in Newlin Township. That closure, too, is listed as indefinite.
