
• The library at the Chester County Historical Society is closed to researchers for the annual Big Dig through the end of January, as the library staff and volunteers 'dig' into big projects. Watch our website and social media for updates and outcomes. The library reopens for regular hours, Tuesday - Saturday, 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 1. The museum will remain open. The Chester County Archives are open during the month of January, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
• Classical guitar virtuosos Fabio Mittino & Bert Lams (of California Guitar Trio) will perform at The Kennett Flash on Friday, Jan. 10. Tickets are available at www.kennettflash.org. Advance tickets are $23, and day of show tickets will be $28. This performance is also a Members Spotlight Show – Kennett Flash members can purchase advance tickets $5 off. Members' pricing is $18 advance. Tickets are $28 the day of the show. Doors open at 7; showtime is 8 p.m.
• Beginning this Saturday, Jan. 11 the Delaware County Register of Wills office will be open two Saturdays per month from 9 a.m. to noon for marriage license applications. Saturday hours will be by appointment only. Please call 610-891-4400 to make an appointment. No appointment is necessary for marriage license applications Monday-Friday. • WCStudio presents Roald Dahl’s “James and the Giant Peach,” the winter musical at Uptown! The story follows the famous author’s fantastical tale of a boy, his insect friends and their amazing journey across the ocean on a giant piece of fruit. Audiences have six opportunities to experience “James and the Giant Peach” at Uptown!, from Saturday, Jan. 11 through Sunday, Jan. 19. The show is one hour and 15 minutes long. Tickets are $17/adult or $12/child, with a 20 percent discount offered to groups of 10 or more. Uptown! • On Wednesday, January 15, at 7 p.m., The Music School of Delaware hosts a special evening of music at its Wilmington Branch, celebrating the life of an equally special member of the Music School "family" - William J. Stegeman - who died in October. The concert, Serafin Ensemble & Friends: Beethoven's 250th Anniversary - Honoring the Memory of Bill Stegeman, will feature Serafin members, noted Music School faculty and guest artists. Included in the artist roster are Amos Fayette and Kate Ransom, violins; Luke Fleming, viola; Jacques-Pierre Malan, cello; and Victor Asuncion, piano. Tickets for the performance are $10 or $5 for students and seniors and are available at brownpapertickets.com.
