Midnight Monday, that is. It’s Midnight in the Square, Kennett Square’s sixth annual Mushroom Drop when a huge metal mushroom is lowered to bring in the new year.
Festivities get underway early with a laser light show at 6 p.m., followed at 6:30 with children’s entertainment at The Garage at 115 S Union Street. The giant lighted mushroom will be raised at 8:45 p.m. and there will be live music with the Funsters on stage outside The Garage from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Parking is available at Exelon Way off E. Baltimore Pike and Kennett High School with free shuttle buses running from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Admission is free.
The event is a joint venture of the Kennett Area Restaurant and Merchants Associationand Mushroom Festival, a nationally-recognized annual event held in September, the weekend after Labor Day.
