For those eagerly awaiting the return of the Chadds Ford Tavern, the wait is almost over. Owner Phil Ferro and his general manager Jay Schecter said the tavern will officially reopen Friday, April 6.

Ferro has been working for months getting the tavern ready. There’s new furniture and an upgraded beer and wine list, but the flavor of Chadds Ford will be maintained.

“We’re still keeping the Chadds Ford roots,” Schecter said. “The historic value will still shine through.”

The metal tags that used to be on the front of the bar are now on top, sealed in for posterity while patrons can order from French, Italian and California wines as well as eight craft beers on tap and another 25 in bottles.

For the time being, the tavern will only be open for dinner. Entrées range in price from $11 to $30. There are also appetizers, a raw bar and shared plates, but the standard tavern fare will remain.

“We want people to enjoy dining with us, with live entertainment to celebrate Chadds Ford,” Schecter said.

In less than one week, The Chadds Ford Tavern will be back.
