Two free events target job-seeking veterans

Two free events to help veterans find jobs and career opportunities are being held in Chester County next month.

On Wednesday, Sept. 2, and Thursday, Sept. 3 ,a Veterans Career Fair Boot Camp will be offered at PA CareerLink-Chester County, located in the Oaklands Corporate Center, 479 Thomas Jones Way, Suite 500, Exton, said a county press release.

The boot camp will run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day, and veterans must commit to attend both sessions. To register, veterans should go to https://vets-jobfair-bootcamp.eventbrite.com. Transportation assistance is available through the Coatesville Veterans Administration Medical Center. For information, contact Yvonne Calloway-Baker at 610-384-7111, ext. 5284, the release said.

Day one of the Veterans Career Book Camp will be devoted to the elevator speech and interviewing techniques, while the second day will focus on networking and how to use JobGateways Workshops.

The two-day Veteran’s Boot Camp will help to prepare veterans attending the Welcome Home Veterans Job Fair on Sept. 11 at the Coatesville Veterans Medical Center. This event takes place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Building 5, Great Hall, 1400 Blackhorse Hill Road, Coatesville.

More than 30 employers will be on hand to meet potential employees. The job fair is presented by the Coatesville Veterans Administration Medical Center, PA CareerLink-Chester County and the VA’s Work Restoration program, Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn program and the Human Resources Management Service.
