Peggy G. Stewart, formerly of Chadds Ford

Peggy G. Stewart, 91, of Glen Mills, formerly of Chadds Ford, died peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Maris Grove. She was the wife of the late Richard E. Stewart, who died in 2008, and with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Canton, Ill, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Edna Crockett Geiger.

Peggy was a retired social worker for the Chester County Services for Senior Citizens in West Chester. Peggy worked for the OSS during World War II and lived in Paris and London.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Kennett Square, and was a docent of the Brandywine River Museum.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Stewart of Broomall, Mary Stewart of Waynesville, N.C. and Bruce Stewart of Swarthmore; two grandsons, Anthony Neri of Waynesville, N.C. and Nicholas Stewart of Cherry Hill, N.J.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 401. N. Union Street in Kennett Square. Interment will be in the adjoining memorial garden.
