Betty Jane Underwood of Kennett Square

Betty Jane Underwood, 86, of Kennett Square, died Monday, Sept. 24, at the Jennersville Regional Hospital. She was the wife of Wilbert I. Underwood, who died in 2007, and with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.

Born in Marshall, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Chester F. and the late Margaret M. Badders Dorsey.

Betty was employed by New Bolton Center and then Pyle’s Home and Supply for 32 years, until her retirement. She was known to many as the “Paint Lady.”

She attended the Unionville School District.

She is survived one daughter, Betty Dorsey of Kennett Square; three grandsons, Andrew (wife Kerri), of Newark, Jamie (girlfriend Angela) of West Grove, and Dustin (girlfriend Kaleigh) of Kennett Square, and five great-grandsons.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister and brother, two sons and a grandson.

You are invited to visit with her family and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, (Phone: 610-444-4116). Her funeral service will follow. Burial will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, 1195 Firetower Road, Colora, Md.
