Wesley C. Hess, 78, of West Grove, died Thursday, July 19, at his residence.
He was the husband of Mary Davis Hess, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Born in Swordcreek, Va., he was the son on the late Willard and Elsie Howington Hess.
Wesley was a millwright at the NVF Company in Yorklyn, retiring in 1996, after 43 years of service.
He was in the US Army from 1956-1958.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed being with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Charles W. Hess, Jr. (Jeanne) of West Grove, Willard R. Hess (Emma Lee) of Oxford, and Christopher M. Hess (Wendy) of Wilmington; three brothers, John Hess of Mountain City, Tenn., Millard Hess of Tennessee and Willis Hess of North Carolina; four sisters, Mary Lee Thompson of Toughkenamon, Frances Presnell, Shelby Hicks and Ellen Dancy, all of North Carolina, and five grandchildren.
Services and burial will be private.
