Edna Campbell Bruhin, 94, of Pennsbury Township died Aug. 19, at Brinton
Manor in Glenn Mills.

Born in Atlantic City, N. J., she was the daughter of the
late Clarence and Anna Campbell (nee O’Toole) and lived her early life in
Ridley Park and Collingdale.

She was married to her sweetheart, Alfred C. Bruhin for 56
years until his death in 1994. Edna and Alfred moved from Ridley Park to Chadds
Ford in the mid 1950s to a rural property she named Pennsaxum where raising her
five children family and enjoying her horses were her delight. Four generations
would come to live at Pennsaxum

She was one of the original parishioners of St. Cornelius
Parish in Chadds Ford and was a founding member of the Chadds Ford Area Woman’s
Club. Edna was particularly interested in poetry and composed many poems
herself. These poems eloquently described her feelings for her children, her
marriage and her faith.

In 2009, at age 91, she was captured on video, at the
opening of the The Inishlacken Project: The Last Parish at the Redhouse
Art Gallery in Syracuse N.Y., reading a poem her mother Anna had written as a
young woman, a reflection on leaving her island home in County Galway, Ireland.
In 2000, Edna visited the island of Inishlacken and, at the time, met members
of her Irish family.

Edna enjoyed painting and was active in the community,
particularly with her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s
busy lives and activities. She loved entertaining and celebrating holidays with
her family. Always adventuresome she twice drove across the USA with her
children, once in 1949 and again in 1975.

After her husband retired, the couple participated in
several cultural resource surveys for MAAR Associates, which resulted in the
nomination of Marvin Gardens and Port Republic, N.J. to the National register
of Historic Places.

Edna is survived by her five children, Alfred Bruhin Jr.
(Patricia) of Connecticut and Florida, David Bruhin (Carol) of Swarthmore,
MaryAnna Ralph (George) who still live at Pennsaxum, Robert Bruhin (Karen) of
Philadelphia, and Barbara Kenney (Daniel) of Guelph, Ontario. She is also
survived by her brother Clarence Campbell of West Chester. In addition, Edna is
survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, her cousin Dorothy Hisler
and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends will be received for visitation from
