John M.
Allaband, 64, of Unionville, died Monday, Aug. 15, at his residence.
He was the husband of Kathleen Poole Allaband, with whom he shared 37 years of
marriage.
Born in
West Chester, he was the son of the late Earl F. and Eva Allaband.
He was a
truck driver for Delchester Oil Co. in West Chester, retiring in April, 2011,
after 17 years of service.
He served
his country in the U.S. Navy.
John was
a member of the First Baptist Church of Kennett Square.
He was an
original organizer of the Unionville Recreation Association, where he served as
a Coach, President and Commissioner of baseball and softball. In 1997, a
baseball field was dedicated to him for over 30 years of service. He loved
coaching and playing on the Church softball team.
John
enjoyed vacations with his family in Myrtle Beach, where he also enjoyed
playing golf.
In
addition to being a husband to Kathy, he was a father to Jennifer and Jill;
PopPop to Izzy and soon to be baby April; son-in-law to Don and Shirley Poole;
twin brother of Donald Allaband of Unionville, , brother to Maxine Manley
of North Carolina and Evelyn Roark of Texas. He was loved by his many nieces
and nephews and will be missed by all of his family.
You are
invited to visit with his family and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday,
Aug. 20, at the First Baptist Church of Kennett Square, 415 West State Street,
Kennett Square. His Memorial service will follow. Burial will be private.
