People interested in buying a
former township building have until July 21 to get their bids in.

Chadds Ford Township
supervisors want to sell the old building at 10 Station Way Road. During their
July 6 meeting, they authorized Township Manager Joe Barakat to advertize the
bidding. Bids will be accepted until 11 a.m., July 21 with the winning bid
announced during a special meeting the following morning at 9 a.m.

Supervisors’ Chairman Garry
Paul said the property has been appraised at $120,000, but needs work. He added
that a façade easement would be placed on the building so that it will maintain
its historic appearance.

Chadds Ford vacated the
building in January 2006 when it moved its offices into the renovated Turner’s
Mill. The township rented out the building for a short period of time, but it’s
been empty for several years.

Other business

Supervisors voted to approve
the land development plan for Brüggemann Chemical to build a two-story office
building. The property is at 1361 Baltimore Pike near Southpoint and covers
just more than 4 acres.

Michael Looney, of Montchanin
Design Group, said he hopes all the permitting will be completed in time to
begin construction by the end of August.

The building will be used as a
sales office, with no storage of chemicals.
