• Late Friday update: The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that
lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 1 between Lenape Road and Kennett Pike
in Kennett Township, Chester County, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Nov.
9, through Nov. 19 for tree trimming and clearing.
The work is part of a $15.4 million roadway improvement
project to relocate Route 52 between Route 926 and Route 1 in Kennett, East
Marlborough, and Pennsbury townships, Chester County.
• Chadds Ford Township supervisors unveiled a preliminary for 2011 during the Nov. 3 meeting. The preliminary budget shows a shortfall of almost $24,000. No tax increases are currently reflected and Supervisor Garry Paul said he hopes there will be no increase as the board continues working to finalize and balance the spending plan. The township needs to pass the budget by the end of the year.
• Brandywine Battlefield Park is having a book signing and lecture by Gene Pisasale, author of “Lafayettes Gold: The Lost Brandywine Treasure" on Sunday, Nov. 7. Pisasale will lecture on the Marquis de Lafayette. Carl Closs will appear as George Washington. The book signing and lectures begin 1-3 p.m. Enjoy colonial music and refreshments. No admission charged
• New hours for Rachel Kohl Library. The library is now open Monday thru Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.
