Charles Richard “Richie” Williams

A quiet, unassuming gentle man died peacefully at Chester Co. Hospital on Saturday, May 23 at the age of 80.

A quiet, unassuming gentle man died peacefully at Chester Co. Hospital on Saturday, May 23 at the age of 80.  He was the husband of Merle Lank Williams, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. 

Born in Freeland, Md., he was the son of Roger Meredith and Elizabeth Ann Spinner Williams. He graduated from PS DuPont High School in 1946 and attended Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He served his country in the Army as a medic during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he worked for Wilmington Wrecking Co. and The Independence School until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Roger, Bruce, Karen, Ellen, Debra, Paige and 14 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was pre deceased by a brother Robert. 

A memorial service celebrating Richie’s life will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 4 p.m. at the Kuzo and Grieco Funeral Home, (610-444-4116) 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348.  Family and friends may visit with the family from 3-4 p.m. before the service.
