Eichinger challenges McIntyre’s education claims

Steve Eichinger, seeking the Republican Party nomination for Pennsbury Township supervisor in Tuesday’s primary election alleges his opponent is lying on his Web site.

“I’m sick of the lies,” Eichinger said. “I just want the truth to come out. … Even if I lose Tuesday, I’ll run as an independent in November. I’m tired of his lying.”

Eichinger’s opponent is Aaron McIntyre.

According to the Web site – www.aaronmcintyre.org/about.htm – McIntyre attended Swarthmore College for his undergraduate work and Drexel University for his graduate studies. His major in both, according to the site, was mathematics.

However, the registrar’s office at Swarthmore can’t confirm McIntyre ever attended, let alone graduated from the Delaware County School. Assistant Registrar Janet McSwiggan said her office was unable to find records on McIntyre.

“This doesn’t mean he didn’t attend Swarthmore,” she said. “It just means we can’t find any records.”

McSwiggan said electronic records were not kept before the 1980s, but paper records, both commencement booklets and student transcripts with McIntyre’s name can’t be found.

McIntyre said in a phone interview late Thursday afternoon that he stands by his Web site, that the information is accurate.

He did attend Swarthmore, he said, but did not graduate. He added that he attended Drexel pursuing undergraduate and graduate work at the same time.

When asked if he graduated McIntyre said, “It’s irrelevant. … This happened 30 years ago and has nothing to do with Pennsbury Township,” McIntyre said. “My Web site is correct. … I stand by my Web site. … Pennsbury has more important things to do.”

He declined to say when he attended Drexel.

Addendum: McIntyre's Web site has been changed since this article was published. It no longer mentions his education.

I agree that education and experience are not the key deciding factors here. Out of curiosity I went to check his website and it looks like it’s now been changed… So much for standing by the web site information as being accurate.

Did the local Republican committee know about this before they endorsed McIntyre? What role have they played in covering it up?

What role does Anonymity play in the Republican Party? Why must all of ‘you’ take the cowards way and not include your name with your comments?

I think that in the current political environment (surprisingly here in Pennsbury Township) anyone who opposes the current regime feels certain that they will be ridiculed; maybe even called an acolyte or segregate of previous members of the Township Board of Supervisors. I have attended a number of meetings and (by the way I do not remember you being there) and have seen concerned residents censured for questing the budget or for commenting about their concerns about repeated disregard for the sunshine laws. Residents feel helpless living in a culture that does not acknowledge any decent and cannot accept any criticism. If you make any opposing argument, you are dismissed and categorized as being disgruntled (as referenced in Mr. McIntyre’s recent campaign letter). There is no respect for anyone other than the politically in crowd so even if not a member of the disgruntled group why would anyone share their name with an opposing position when they have a forum here to voice their opinions anonymously and without fear of scorn.

Eichinger was in the home of Jerry Mirshak of 47 Bluestone drive and told her that he pays Pennsbury taxes but it may be that he does NOT. He rents and does not own land and so he does not technically pay property taxes in Pennsbury

If as I recently discovered, it is true that Eichenger does not pay real estate proprty taxes in Pennsbury township then any effort on his part to run as an independent in November should result in legal action to remove his name from any ballot that is presented to the public,

particularly if he willfully falsified claims of landowing status in the township

Charlie … I hope you are joking. This is too silly even for you …

  8. Crosslands residents

Mr. Eichinger pays earned income tax directly and if he is a renter pays his property tax indirectly through his landlord. Everyone at Crosslands pays real estate tax indirectly through the Crosslands organization, and hopefully you wouldn’t consider them anything less than full Pennsbury citizens.

To this anonmyous fear monger. True, I have not been actively involved in the Township since Maryanny Ralph sent a Conservation District Inspector to my house, supposedly as a ‘joke.’

I was just alerted that my name was mentioned here. Unless you are willing to have all the fact out there, be careful what you say. I have not been part of this discussion but since you mentioned it I will state the facts. You had several loads mushroom soil dumped in a flood plain without silt fence and a major storm did wash all that organic material into the Brandywine. As I was a supervisor at the time, it was my responsibility to insure that the steams in our township were not polluted with such nitrogen high pollutants. I admitted that then as I do now that I did speak with the Conservation District about it but I did not ask them to visit your property. I requested that they reply to me so I could go to you directly and yes ask you to remedy the problem and yes to pull your chain (you proclaim yourself a great and responsible environmentalist) and tell you that you has slipped up. At that time we did have a bantering relationship and I was looking forward to barbing you face to face. But at the same time I was concerned about the amount of nitrogen high pollutants that had, for two years in a row, been washed into the stream and then into the Brandywine during major storms that occurred before you had had the opportunity to distribute the soil over your crop areas. I have not hidden these facts so I am not ashamed of them or to sign my name to my actions.
