Pennsylvania State Police

• A 40-year-old man from Philadelphia, not named in the report, was arrested for drug possession in Chadds Ford on Dec. 15. The man was lying down at a booth in the McDonald’s, shaking and sweating. Two glass smoking pipes consistent with drug use were found on the floor where the man was lying.

• Police are investigating the reported theft of a motor vehicle from Enterprise in Concord Township on Jan. 8.

• Marshall’s in the Concord Town Centre was ripped off on Dec. 15, according to a police report. The report said someone stole close to $1,000 worth of merchandise. Police are investigating.

• Police said Dorothy G. Davenport, 77, of Chadds Ford, was citied following a two-car crash on Route 202 at Applied Bank Boulevard on Jan. 15. According to the police report, Davenport southbound in the left-hand turn lane attempting to turn onto Applied Bank, and the other car was traveling north in the right lane Police said Davenport failed to yield and made a careless lane turn and struck the other car.

• A 63-year-old man from West Chester, not identified in the report, was arrested for DUI following a one-car crash at Route 202 and Dilworthtown Road on Jan. 20. Troopers determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody.

Avondale Barracks

• State police are investigating a case of criminal mischief in Pennsbury Township on Jan. 23 at Parkerville near Pocopson roads. There were four victims.

• Police said Shyam S. Srinivasan, 45, of West Chester, was cited for careless driving following a two-car crash on Baltimore Pike near Chadds Ford Elementary School on Jan. 19. According to the report, Srinivasan was driving north in the right lane on Route 1 while the other car was in the left lane. Srinivasan then moved into the left lane, striking the other car. No injuries were reported.

• Police say speed was the cause of a two-car crash in Pocopson Township on Jan. 19. The accident happened on Lenape Road near Wayne Drive. They identified the errant driver as Hunter S. Firment, 25, of West Chester. According to the report, Firment was driving north on Lenape, and the other vehicle was south on the same road. Firment was driving too fast for conditions, police said, and lost control of the car and swerved into the oncoming traffic lane. No injuries were reported.

• Police said they arrested a 36-year-old woman from Augusta, Ga., not identified by name in the report, on assault charges. According to the report, the woman and a 27-year-old man were fighting over the car keys to their rental car when the woman punched the man in the arm. The incident happened on Tapeworm Road in West Marlborough Township.

• Danielle M. Days, 50, of Newark, was cited for speeding in Pennsbury Township on Dec. 23, police said. The accident happened on Hickory Hill Road. According to police, Davis lost control of her car and hit a street sign.

• Police said Haley R. Wilks, 30, of Landenberg, was cited for failure to stop at a red signal and struck another car on Dec. 20 at Baltimore Pike and Onix Drive. No injuries were reported.

A 38-year-old woman from Claymont, not identified in the report, was arrested for shoplifting at Wegmans on Dec. 6. She is accused of trying to steal almost $600 worth of groceries.

Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident on Route 202 near Smithbridge Road in Concord Township on Oct. 29. According to the report, the first car, driven by a 17-year-old girl, was attempting to merge into the left lane to enter a parking lot to make a “U-turn” and proceed northbound on Route 202, but was stuck by another car. The driver of the second car did not exchange information or wait for the police to arrive.

Police said they cited Michael J. Williams, 37, of Newark, following a two-car crash on Route 202 near Pyle Road in Concord Township on Nov. 14. According to the police report, Williams was following too closely and rear-ended the other vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Kennett Square Police Department

Police said Richard Morinelli, 51, of Glenmoore, was arrested on multiple counts, including kidnapping, burglary, harassment, possession of an instrument of crime, and more. Officers said they responded to the address on S. Mill Road, determined that Morinelli threatened the female victim with a steak knife, sent various threatening messages via text, and had also followed her to a casino the night before. An arrest warrant was issued by District Court 15-3-04, and Morinelli was taken into custody by Upper Chichester Police Department on Dec. 23 and transported to Central Booking at Chester County Prison by KSPD Officers. This incident is pending a preliminary hearing.

William McGowan, 69, of Kennett Square, was charged with DUI following a crash in the borough on Sept. 14, according to a police report. Police said they were responding to a crash with injuries in the 100 block of Cypress Street, but that they detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver of the striking vehicle, McGowan. The report continued, saying that McGowan appeared to be having some type of medical episode while officers were attempting to speak to him about the incident, and he was transported by ambulance to the hospital for further evaluation. After submitting a search warrant for McGowan’s medical records from this visit, they were received on Nov. 24, with positive findings of alcoholic beverages. Charges were filed in District Court 15-3-04, and this incident is pending a preliminary hearing.

Police Log January 7: Shoplifting, Crashes, Arrests
Lululemon got ripped off again. No suspects were referenced in the Jan. 1 shoplifting, but five items were stolen with an estimated value of $948.

Gail M. Force, 77, of Chadds Ford, was injured in a two-car crash at the intersection of Route 1 and Webb Road on Saturday, Jan. 3. She was also cited, police said. According to the report, the second car was traveling south in the left lane on Route 1 while Force was trying to make a left onto Webb. Both drivers sustained suspected severe injuries and were transported to Paoli Hospital.

Police said they filed multiple citations against Dustin O’Brien (no age or municipality given) on Dec. 26 after his car, a Ford Mustang, was found in the woods on Featherbed Lane near Conchester Highway. O’Brien reportedly told police that he was traveling east on Featherbed but too fast for the weather conditions. As a result, the vehicle slid, crossed over the opposing lane, left the roadway, and struck a tree. The vehicle was at final rest approximately 10 feet into the woods on the left-hand side of the road, facing westbound.

Police said they arrested Michael Siwinski, 36, of Bear, Del., for drug possession. Police said they initiated a traffic stop on Sharpley Drive in Concord Township on Dec. 26 and determined Siwinski was driving under the influence of drugs. No reason for the stop was mentioned in the report.

Two 52-year-old Chadds Ford women were arrested on harassment charges following an altercation at Painters Crossing on Dec. 18. No details were given except to say that a fight had broken out between neighbors.

Cody Dyer, 32, of Aston, was arrested for DUI in Chadds Ford Township, according to police. The arrest came on Dec. 20 after a traffic stop for vehicle violations in the 1300 block of Baltimore Pike.

Police said they arrested Bruce Reed, 60, of Elsmere, Del., for shoplifting at Wegmans on Dec. 21. No other details were given in the report.

Avondale Barracks

Haley R. Wilks, 30, of Landenberg, was cited for failing to stop at a red light, causing a Dec. 20 accident on Baltimore Pike at Onix Drive in East Marlborough Township, police said. According to the report, Wilks was driving south in the right lane of Baltimore Pike but failed to stop for a red signal and struck the other car, which was traveling northbound on Route and was turning left onto Onix. No injuries were reported.

A 31-year-old woman from Upper Darby was arrested for shoplifting at Wegmans on Nov. 18, according to police. She is accused of trying to steal more than $130 worth of merchandise from the store, including Vaseline Cocoa Butter, Dudewipes, and batteries.

Police are investigating a crime of deception in Concord Township. The report said a 77-year-old woman was scammed out of $15,000 in a bitcoin scam.

Police said they arrested David Worrell, 30, of Linwood, for trying to steal $220 worth of Red Bull from Wegmans on Sept. 8.

Avondale Barracks

State police said Kellie A. Tobin, 29, of Brookhaven, and Margret B. Lutley, 89, of Kennett Square were injured in a two-car crash occurred on East Street Road at the intersection of Westbourne Road in Thornbury Township on Nov. 24. According to the report, Tobin was traveling south on Westbourne Road while the other vehicle was driving was traveling west on East Street Road. Tobin failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by the other car. Tobin was transported by Good Fellowship EMS to Paoli Hospital. The driver of the other car was also taken to Paoli Hospital with suspected serious injuries. The report further stated that Tobin showed signs of impairment and is under investigation for DUI.

Kennett Square Police Department

Borough police said they arrested Alejandro Cortez-Villagomez on multiple charges of harassment, assault, disorderly conduct, and possession of a marijuana vape pen following a domestic incident on Center Street on Nov.  21. According to the report, officers were responding to a domestic incident. When they arrived, they could hear Cortez-Villagomez yelling through the door. He was observed to be physically intoxicated on an unknown substance and pushed one of the officers when they attempted to speak with him. Upon taking Cortez-Villagomez into custody, police located a THC vape pen on his person.
