A Garden of Yarn in Olde Ridge Village is now open from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The shop is offering more classes on knitting and crocheting, according to a press release. Classes are $20 plus supplies. Contact Leslie at kraftygirl4@comcast.net for more information.

• The Kennett Area Senior Center sponsors an afternoon tea party on Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 2:30 – 4 p.m. In addition to a variety of teas, delicacies will be served. The tea party’s theme is “Downton Abbey Victorian Tea.” The cost is $10 for member and $12 for non-member. Please call the KASC for reservations at 610-444-4819.

Blues rock guitarist, singer and songwriter Steve Cal’ will perform in the courtyard of the Brandywine River Museum of art at 7 p.m. on Aug. 15. Tickets are $12 for adults; $10 members and $6 students through August 13. After August 13, prices are $25 adults, $20 member and $10 students. Cash bar and food will be available for purchase. Hotties~4~Humanity is holding a Ladies Night on Aug. 19, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Pescatore’s Italian Restaurant in the Keystone Plaza, on Route 202 in Chadds Ford Township, to benefit Chris Blazier a local Garnet Valley women battling ovarian cancer. • The annual Kennett Mushroom Festival is scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 6 and 7 in Kennett Square. There will be a variety of mushroom foods, mushroom inspired art plus growing and cooking exhibitions. There will also be a mushroom walk/run and an antique and classic car show. Wine and Dinosaurs return to the Delaware Museum of Natural History from noon to 4 p.m. on Sept. 14. Dozens of wines and beers to sample, hors d’oeuvres from top local caterers, live jazz, and a silent auction are featured to benefit the museum.
