Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce to Host Annual Inspirational Breakfast April 20
The Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Inspirational Breakfast Wednesday, April 20, beginning at 7:30 am at The Mendenhall Inn. The keynote speaker is Pat Ciarrocchi, award-winning broadcaster who will share insights and lessons learned during her esteemed career.
The Inspirational Breakfast welcomes business and community leaders from across the region. The fee is $45 for Members and $55 for Non-Members. Tables are available for $450. To register, visit www.scccc.com.
The event includes a coffee reception at 7:30 am followed by a sit-down breakfast and program at 8:30 am. Special guests Valley Forge Military Academy & College, as well as the Heraldic Fanfare Trumpets & Academy Color Guard will begin the program.
Chester County native Pat Ciarrocchi traveled the globe covering major events of the day during her stellar 33-year career as anchor at CBS3 in Philadelphia. She has earned virtually every major honor in broadcasting including being the first woman inducted into the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Did you know that in the 18th century you could get away with drinking beer for breakfast? During the April Tavern Talks event, the Chadds Ford Historical Society will be exploring all kinds of beverages that colonists would have consumed, both alcoholic and non. On Thursday, April 21 from 7-9 p.m., in the Chadds Ford Historical Society’s 300-year-old tavern, guests will be able to sample several different beverages that were staples of the Colonists, such as ale, rum punch, mead, shrub, coffee and drinking chocolate. You will also have the opportunities play some 18th century tavern games, meet Mr. Barns, our tavern keeper, and more! Featured participants at the event will be Yards Brewing Co., Red Brick Craft Distillery, Deer Creek Malthouse, American Heritage Chocolate, and The Colony Meadery.
Music on the Brandywine: Project Fusion

This saxophone quartet stages engaging concerts, performing their programs exclusively from memory. Their diverse repertoire represents their advocacy of new music and also includes standards. The group is the winner of Astral's 2015 National Auditions.

We are currently looking for volunteers to help with Recycle/Community Day on Saturday, April 23. If you should have an interest in helping with this event, we are filling volunteer shifts from 9am - 11am and 11am - 1pm with volunteers who will assist Township staff and direct residents who are dropping off items for recycle. Trinkets or Treasures
April 23, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Brandywine River Museum of Art will host "Trinkets or Treasures," an appraisal day on Saturday, April 23, with appraisers from Freemans, America's oldest auction house. The appraisers will offer verbal appraisals of an extensive variety of objects. Freemans' knowledgeable team of auction specialists, many of whom have been featured on PBS's Antiques Roadshow, will provide expert valuations of fine paintings, jewelry, furniture and decorative arts including: porcelain, jade, silver and rare books. Attendees will receive a verbal auction estimate. Please bring in photos for larger items. No guns, stamps, dolls, or collectibles, please. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Timed tickets are available every half hour, with the last ticket at 3:30 p.m. The cost is $30 per time slot for one item and includes admission to the museum and exhibitions. Kennett Symphony of Chester County Announces
Annual Instrumental Competition for Young Artists
KENNETT SQUARE, PA –
The Kennett Symphony annual Instrumental Competition for Young Artists on Saturday, April 23rd at 1:00 pm at the Kendal at Longwood Auditorium, Kennett Square, PA. The competition is limited to sixteen gifted young musicians in grades 9 to 12, each of whom will perform a classical composition or movement of a larger work for solo instrument and orchestra. The Young Artist Competitions provide an invaluable performance experience for these aspiring student musicians who have achieved a high level of proficiency. The auditions are open to the public and are free of charge. Each of the young musicians will be judged by a panel of professional musicians.
Three prizes will be awarded - first prize provides a $500 cash award and the opportunity for a solo performance with
the Kennett Symphony, second prize is $300, and third prize is $100.
Funding for the competition is provided in part through the
generosity of the Mushroom Festival, Inc. and the Kennett Run
Charities.

Molly is an alumna of Ursinus College and Syracuse University. She reported to the Chester County Commissioners while overseeing the development of the County's nationally-recognized Open Space Program. Molly was named one of the Philadelphia Business Journal's "Women of Distinction" in 2012; she received the CRC Watersheds Award in 2013; she was honored with the Rebecca Lukens Award, also in 2013.

Last year's proceeds and donations from our Heart of Rowing enabled us to purchase our first boat which is to be christened and in the water in April. We also purchased sets of our own oars which have been painted with our Unionville colors.We are hoping to raise funds to purchase additional boats and equipment needed.
