Roaring twenties come to Longwood Gardens
Apr 9 @ 18:30 – 23:00

The Roaring Twenties Come to Longwood Gardens

Thanks to the success of the Longwood Rotary Club’s annual Gala over $800,000 has been invested in the greater Kennett Square community in the last 17 years. “The money combined with about 8,000 volunteer hours per year has been used to improve the lives of almost every family in the area”, said President Bob Listerman. “That is why we work hard to make the Gala fun for everyone attending - its success is really important to us and the community.”

Longwood Rotary expects over 300 people will enjoy Roaring Twenties fun from 6:30PM to 11 PM on April 9, 2016 at Longwood Gardens. The evening starts with the jazz band Gin Canaries greeting revelers coming into the Longwood Conservatory. Dinner includes your choice of a variety of specialty foods. Entertainment includes dancing to both the jazz band and a DJ; and a silent auction featuring vacations, electronics, original art pieces, jewelry, sporting event tickets and memorabilia. All for the low price of $300 per couple for an unparalled evening in a magical venue.

Longwood Rotary supports over 20 local organizations financially with the proceeds of the Gala including the Kennett Area Senior Center, The Garage Community and Youth Center, Kennett Mushroom Festival, Kennett Food Cupboard, Tick Tock Early Learning Center, Camp Dreamcatcher, Kennett-Unionville Relay for Life, the Walk in Knowledge student mentoring program at Kennett High School, scholarships for students of the Kennett and Unionville High Schools, Unionville Fair, Anson B. Nixon Park, Kennett After the Bell Program and many more. The last major community project was providing about half the funding for the new children’s playground at the Anson B Nixon Park, with over 30 members joining dozens of others from many community groups to help install the new playground equipment last year. This year a major project is helping Kennett Area Community Service expand into the building next door so they have the space needed to serve their growing population.

To join the fun and help our community continue to prosper, go to http://www.longwoodrotary.com/Gala.cfm and register for the Gala now.

Massive Barn Market
Apr 16 @ 09:00 – 16:00

You are invited to Chadds Ford Historical Society  April 16, 2016. Lisa Vonderstruk and Brandywine View Antiques will have over 100 vendors, 10 food trucks, an antique car show (if it doesn’t rain) and of course the ceremonial rope cutting at 9 a.m.

Why is this rope cutting so important to me? Because I love Brimfield, Massachusetts. Host to on the biggest, all mighty antique markets in the country. With over 17 football fields of merchandise and 7,000 vendors, thousands of shoppers congregate for one week.

This is a Rain or Shine event. Every day, at a different time, a different field would open to the shoppers. On one field, nobody could buy or sell until 9 a.m. That was my favorite field. Even Steven dibs… For me, it’s the excitement of “the find.” That is how the rope cutting began and the MASSIVE Barn Market was named.

My goal with this growing market is to keep putting fabulous people together, quality finds and giving the customer a taste of the “Brimfield experience.” This is not a flea market, nor a yard sale. You can expect to find antiques, unique, vintage, farm fresh, salvage, handmade and quality goods. We get the best local food trucks and beverages (adult and otherwise) to boot!

"Our goal is for you to have fun." Lisa Vonderstruk.
