Chef Anthony’s Italian Market is very proud to support Mommy Sue’s Children, a grass roots effort to educate and empower underprivileged children in Haiti. Chef Anthony’s is active in supporting many local charities but we also feel a moral obligation to help those in need without regard to where they live. As a member of the Concordville-Chadds Ford Rotary, it was distinct privilege to meet Sue Mardinly, the founder of Mommy Sue’s Children.
The catastrophic earthquake of 2010 is only the latest--and worst--natural disaster to devastate the nation of Haiti. Up until the quake, the hurricane season of 2008 was the cruelest natural disaster ever experienced in Haiti. Four storms--Fay, Gustav, Hanna, and Ike--dumped heavy rains on the impoverished nation.
Even though five years have passed since the earthquake in 2010, the impoverished children of Haiti continue to suffer. Education in Haiti is only accessible to the wealthy few and Mommy Sue has set out to help as many children as she can with support from local Rotary Clubs, Rotary International and from anyone who cares about education.
My wife Amy (Chair of the Biology Department at Swarthmore College) and I, along with our entire team at Chef Anthony’s Italian Market are committed to doing all that we can to help these wonderful deserving children.
In many places in the US there are poor schools, but in Haiti there are no schools for the majority of the poor children and where there are schools, they are, in most cases, housed in primitive structures without clean water, food or teachers for that matter.
We at Chef Anthony’s are confident that with the help of Rotary, our customers, and our vendors, that we can bring hope to Mommy Sue’s Children. Children hold the key to the future and as the world gets smaller, it’s our duty as citizen of the world to help all those in need.
We invite you to help Chef Anthony’s Italian Market raise money for Mommy Sue’s Children! Join us on October 14th, 2015 from 7-9PM at the store for hors-d'oeuvre and sweets as we kick off our Mommy Sue’s Children campaign. Tickets are $35 and 100% of the proceeds will go to Mommy Sue’s Children.
Chef Anthony’s will collect for Mommy Sue’s Children all year long with an in store collection box located by the registers. Also on weekends when Chef Anthony is sampling food at the Chef Table, we ask that you think of these wonderful children as you enjoy our food, and leave a donation.

Anytime Fitness is offering FREE fitness consultations
and “Get Started” plans
PLUS JOIN FOR ONLY $1!
Fall is the time of year when young people head back to school and families start getting back to their routines - including their health and fitness routines, which may have slipped or changed during the summer months. In fact, fitness industry analysts say as many people join gyms during the month of October as in January.
The most common reason why adults don’t exercise more regularly is that they “just don’t know how to get started,” according to a recent study conducted by Anytime Fitness, the world’s fastest-growing fitness club chain.
That’s why the Anytime Fitness club located in Garnet Valley Plaza-91 Wilmington-West Chester Pike, Chadds Ford PA 19317 (Next to Firebirds Restaurant) is offering a special deal for new members. Anyone who joins the club between September 28 and October 16 can do so for ONLY $1 and will receive a Free Get Started Plan (valued at $199). This plan includes a free fitness consultation, and a 30-day fitness program.
“We understand how difficult it can be to get started on a new routine – no matter how good you know it will be for you,” said John Fletcher, Anytime Fitness owner. And it’s why we developed our ‘Get Started’ plan, which includes a 30-day personalized workout calendar and guidance from our expert staff to help new members get off to a solid start on their fitness journeys. Every workout plan will be based on the outcome of a comprehensive fitness consultation.”
VIEW INSPIRATIONAL STORIES HERE: www.MyAnytimeStory.com
Hundreds of Anytime Fitness members nationwide have recently begun submitting their personal stories on the company’s website. The stories include reasons for beginning a fitness journey like: “I realized my new hobby was eating – a lot,” “I didn’t like the person looking back at me in the mirror,” and “My two-year-old nephew could out-run me.”
“Ask just about anyone to list the most important things in their life and nearly everyone will mention ‘health,’” said Fletcher. “But too many people simply don’t know how to get started. We’re here to help fix that – and there’s no better time than the present.”
For more information about the free “Get Started” plans at Anytime Fitness, call 484-840-8971 to set up an appointment or visit us on the web.
